2. Why did you chose at Psychology major, write your reason at least 250 words(50
point) ?

Long story short, I graduated from a vocational high school (SMK) in 2018. My
dream after graduation was simple: to study in a technical or health-related field
(a science-based major, as I greatly admire how science works, and my major in
vocational school was pharmacy), graduate, and work using that knowledge.

However, I realized that the dream of attending university was quite ambitious for
someone like me with financial limitations. Additionally, my mistake in choosing
the educational path was evident; at that time, vocational high school graduates
had fewer opportunities to enter universities compared to general high school
graduates. Aware of this, I did everything I could to get into university. Finally, in
2018, right after graduating, I had the opportunity to fly to China and pursue my
dream of entering a university there. For a year, I was placed at the 南京航天管理
干部学院-天望楼 (Nanjing Aerospace Management Cadre College-Tianwang
Tower), where I earned my HSK certificate and a scholarship to study at 南京医科
大学 (Nanjing Medical University) in 2019.

Unfortunately, that year, the COVID-19 pandemic hit China, forcing me to cancel
my dream of university education and return to Indonesia. My ambition to learn
remained high, so I attempted to enroll in a local university. The following year, I
was accepted into the Chemistry program at Padjadjaran University. However, I
couldn't continue my studies there due to financial conflicts within my family,
despite almost securing a Bidikmisi scholarship (now known as KIPK). The
financial burden was still too heavy, so I had to abandon my plans to study at
UNPAD.

I worked for about three years after that incident. During this time, I kept
reviewing my notes to pass the UTBK test. My dissatisfaction made me consider
every possibility to continue learning and at least earn recognition (a degree) for
my knowledge.

I felt my life was meaningless. I couldn't go to college and didn't have any friends.
Human relationships felt strange to me. To me, relationships were tied to
interests: classmates were linked by classes, coworkers by work, and even
family by responsibilities. Parents had responsibilities towards their children,
and children had rights from their parents. Even so-called true friends were
based on the interest of being together and compatibility, and this likely applied
to couples as well.

During that time, I had a partner who had been with me for over six years. Yes, I
felt happiness from her and needed her. I also felt responsible for always being
with her. I believed that a true friend was someone with whom you had an
interest in being together until the end of time.

However, things didn't turn out as I expected. Due to our individual limitations
and interests, we were often separated by distance, which likely led her to lose
interest in me beyond the status of our relationship, eventually ending it.

This situation made me despair, prompting me to move to a new place, from Java
to Bali. Since then, I've been reflecting on what was wrong with me, leading to
several conclusions:
1. I never had friends, as I observed that people usually have someone they can
connect with wherever they go, while I did not.
2. My way of living a social life is very different from others'.

Upon observation, people easily trust each other and feel comfortable with
others. For instance, people easily send WhatsApp messages to others and
exchange thoughts almost daily. They also go out with others for trivial reasons
(not urgent matters like work). I, on the other hand, do not do such things.

I am curious about how people generally perceive things. I want to understand

people's thoughts on various matters. I want to know if my perspective is
different from others and if concepts like introversion and extroversion are real
and why. Is it due to their living environment, or do biological factors, like brain
development, also play a role?

My focus turned to a subject: biopsychology. This led me to choose psychology

as my field of study. Considering my limitations, I lack the financial means and
must continue working, making Universitas Teknologi Nusantara (UTN) a fitting
place for me. My hope is to change my mindset and improve my social
relationships (or even understand why my partner left). At the very least, I hope
to broaden my perspective.

The story above may seem long-winded in explaining why I chose to study
psychology and attend UTN, but I feel it's necessary to elaborate on my reasons.

that I am working so hard?
Samantha: I'll manage somehow.
Darren: You're terrible. Can't you take me with you?
Samantha: No. But I will send you a postcard of a beautiful, white sand
beach.
Darren: Great, that will make me feel much better.
