[2021] 2 NL Poker Masterclass

Overview
1. Common player types: loose aggressive, tight passive
2. Your general strategy: play tight, don’t bluff, get paid for value, don’t call often
3. 2 NL = Fuck GTO, just exploit
4. I have a fairly small sample size. Only played 2 hours or so of 5 tables.
a. End of video will have a few hands I played that are broken down if you want to
see how I developed this strategy

1. Game selection
a. I would generally avoid 6 handed if your goal is to make money. Your win rate is
destroyed by rake. But if you want to improve, 6 handed is good for this.
b. In general it’s easier to find fish at 9 handed games
c. Sort by highest average pot for juiciest games
2. Preflop
a. Tight is right. Again, rake is destroying you. You don’t want to play a lot of pots
b. Don’t open hands you don’t have a game plan for postflop
i. Don’t open 22 UTG because it’s impossible to play postflop or facing a 3b
c. 3 bet your big hands
1. Again, we’re fighting rake. If we don’t see a flop, there’s no rake in
a lot of cases. I know this is true on ACR.
2. If you take down a big pot preflop, that’s great.
a. An example of this is 3 bet squeezing quite large with AK
d. Don’t call
i. Only exception is something like calling the btn after there are 4 callers
and you have 88s or something that flops huge
e. Steal blinds
i. If high fold to steal %, steal often
1. Don’t barrel at pots, however. Don’t get too fancy from the blinds
3b light is ok, especially if high fold to 3b
2. This is extra true if you’re BB and SB keeps raising
a. And if SB has high f3b
3. Postflop
a. Don’t call pretty much ever
1. Almost everyone is nitty. If they have stuff they bet, if they don’t
they check. If you call it means you’re usually at a range
disadvantage
2. If a nit check raises you on the turn vs your AA, it might be time to
fold
b. Value bet your big hands
i. If you’re playing a maniac, you can size up and even go for all in value
ii.If you’re playing a nit, value betting ¼ and ½ pot can go a long way
iii. This is a quite complicated topic so i can’t go into every nuance, but
generally speaking, i want you to value bet often. Even if it’s slightly thin.
c. High CBet flop rate is OK
i. Most people really respect cbets, even if your cbet is damn near 100.
ii. This doesn’t mean cbet turn and river. Must have good reasons to do this

4. Misc Tips
a. Keep tabs on your opponents
i. Use poker tracker
ii. Use my color coding system
