Handing of a door is determined from the secure side of the door by the direction of the swing and the hinge placement. The secure side is often outside and is always the side with a key. If you have to back-up to open the door, it is considered to be a left or right hand reverse depending on the swing and hinge placement.

An electromagnetic lock is a device used to control the access through a door. It consists of an electromagnet mounted in or on the door frame and a matching plate that is affixed to the door. When energized, the electromagnet holds the plate with a retention force that may exceed 1000 lbs, thus effectively locking the door. Available in a range of holding forces to suit different applications. They are typically controlled through security systems, keypads, key switches, card access systems, request to exit buttons, and/or by special devices worn by persons whos safety could be compromised by uncontrolled egress.

Electromagnetic Locks
Whats the Difference?
Door Status Sensor (DSS) A DSS is a contact type sensor switch used to monitor the position of a door independant of local power. It is a means of remotely indicating whether the door is open or closed, but not necessarily locked. Ideal for anti-follow through on access control systems; Remote Door Hold Open applications, and CCTV activation. Security Condition Sensor (SCS) An SCS is a solid state bond sensor that operates an LED and an SPDT relay to indicate either low voltage or tampering of the lock. The SCS indicates lock status (locked or unlocked). The sensor will initiate an LED to inform locally or report remotely of reduced holding force due to the presence of materials between the magnet and armature plate, an unlocked status due to current loss by severed wires or other means. Ideal for Remote Door Hold Open applications, CCTV activation, traffic control applications, etc. Security condition data can be sent to a remote device, trigger an audible alarm (on the device or on the remote device), trigger a visual alarm (on the device or on the remote device), or a combination of these. The SCS sensor is highly sensitive and is recommended for high security applications.

Electromagnetic Locks
The EW8310 is more than an Electromagnetic Lock, it can also sense when an intruder is attempting to gain access into a building through a locked door. The built-in sensor detects door movement and initiates a local and/or remote alarm prior to the integrity of the door being compromised; well before the break-in has occurred. An alarm in the immediate location will ward off would be thieves before they have a chance to gain access. The light panel provides highly visible information related to the status changes of the door. For example, it works as a status indicator when the door is secure or notifies if an attempted break-in has occurred.
Early Warning
Built-in sensor will sound a local and/or remote alarm once door movement is detected before the door has been compromised Unique highly visible Red/Green light panel indicates status of door (local) Built-in Security Condition Sensor (SCS) feature indicates that the door is closed, bonded and that the Electromagnetic Lock is functioning normally Dry contact relay switching (SPDT and DPDT) provided for local and/or remote alarm monitoring Auto sensing voltage from 12 to 24 VDC Up to 1200 lbs (540 kg) holding force Low Profile Design Nuisance delay feature accomodates accidental triggering Brushed Anodized Aluminum finish 10 Year Warranty UL Listed Auxiliary Lock for use on fire doors rated up to 1.5 hours

1-1/16 offset from C/L of electric strike in frame to C/L of latch or 11/16 offset from C/L of lock in door to C/L of latch.
13/16 offset from C/L of electric strike in frame to C/L of latch or 7/16 offset from C/L of lock in door to C/L of latch.
NOTE: Most locksets will not have the exact offset shown. Select from the closest version available. There are two different centerlines (C/L): the centerline of the lock in the door and the centerline of the electric strike in the frame. If the proper 2 Series model is installed, the deadlocking trigger (or auxiliary latch or guard) will not enter the pivot cavity and will function as intended. We have made every effort to ensure that the dimensions shown are accurate; however, various manufacturers specifications may change without notice. Please confirm the dimensions shown above before ordering.

Power supply is a reference to a source of electrical power. A device or system that supplies electrical or other types of energy to an output load or group of loads is called a power supply unit or PSU. The term is most commonly applied to electrical energy supplies, less often to mechanical ones, and rarely to others. Power supplies are commonly used to support security devices that require low voltage power such as electric strikes, electromagnetic locks, keypads and readers, access control systems, CCTV systems and burglar alarm systems.

Power Supplies
1. What voltage are you working with? 2. What VA or W rating is required? 3. Do you want a plug-in or wire-in transformer? When ordering a power supply unit, you will be asked: 1. What voltage are you working with? 2. What amp rating is required? 3. Which options are required? (battery backup, etc.) When ordering a power supply (whether its a unit with many options, like an RCI 10 Series model, or just a transformer), the voltage you will use is often dictated by the locking and access control products being used. For example, assume you decide to use 24-volt electric strikes. You must then use a 24-volt power supply. Next, make sure that this 24-volt power supply is large enough to power the locks. To do this, find out what current (amps or A) each lock uses. This information can be found in product literature or on the label attached to the product. In this example, well use a typical RCI electric strike current rating. Current consumption is a low 0.1 amps (or 100 mA milliamps) each. Lets assume, for our example, that we are installing four of these strikes. They are 24V @ 0.1 amps. The voltage stays the same (24V strike = 24V power supply). We must, however, take the total current of all locks being used. Therefore, at 0.1 amps each (for 4 locks) the total is 0.4 amps. Multiply the total current (0.4 amps) using a safety factor (SF) of 2 for AC transformers and 1.25 for DC Power Supplies. (Using a safety factor is a good habit to develop.) We will, therefore, be using 0.8 amps as a safe figure to work with: current per lock x number of locks x 2 (SF for AC transformers) = total current
= 0.8 amps
Summary: voltage x amperage = VA rating 24V x 0.8 amp = 19.2 VA Therefore, a 24V-20VA transformer is required.
A = Amps mA = Milliamps W = Watts V = Voltage

The 10-5/10-5-PDD-FT Power Supplies distribute a single low voltage DC output. The PDM-4, PDM-4C, PDM-8 and PDM-8C boards are available separately and can be used to customize your power supply after installation. Power switch to shut off all devices for servicing on PDM-4 and 4C only Converts a single input to 4 separately protected outputs The PDD-FT board is a fire panel control interface. This board can be used to control DC output based on a fire alarm control panel. Two outputs switch state on alarm. Available with fuses (PDM-4) or PTC* circuit breakers (PDM-4C) Separate green power indicator LED for each output The PDD-8PCI board is a power distribution/control interface. The board can be used to convert a DC power source to 8 Class II power limited outputs that can be controlled by a fire alarm control panel. This board allows the installed to power electromagnetic locks, electric strikes, DC Camera and access control with the same power supply.
PDD-FT PDD-8PCI
PDM-8
PDM-4C
The PDM-4, PDM-4C, PDM-8 and PDM-8C boards distribute a single low voltage AC or DC source into 4 or 8 outputs. The output voltage and total current available is determined by the input supply. When installed into a power supply, servicing time can be greatly reduced by the output indicator LEDs. If an output fuse is blown or PTC is tripped the accompanying LED will be off, simply identifying the device connected to this output will allow for a problem to be quickly corrected. In addition to short circuit protection, the input terminals also have a surge protector that can absorb a 1500 Watt spike or surge to protect connected devices.

An exit device also referred to as a pushbar, crash bar or panic bar is an egress device which is installed on an exit door to release the latch when the bar is pushed. These devices can be mechanical or enhanced when electrified and relayed to other products for higher security.
COMMERCIAL BUILDINGS
The patented interlocking latch and strike design on the RCI 1200 and 1300 Series Exit Devices make your life easier because you have peace of mind that your doors will not be pried or forced open from the exterior side. When the strike and the latch are engaged they form a completely encased maximum security interlock between the door and the frame. Delayed Egress, Access Control or Retail Loss Prevention; RCI is the easy solution.
Exit Devices
These exit devices are the ideal solution for safety and security. The interlocking latch and strike design (1200 & 1300 series) make this device virtually impossible to pry, or force open from the exterior side.

After 20 seconds of the timer being active, the Sounder stops and the system must be manually re-locked.
Override-Reset Mode
Life Safety
Because the EML (electromagnetic lock) is tied to the fire alarm panel through the power supply, the door will unlock immediately in the event of a fire and egress is enabled by depressing the mechanical exit device.
Life Safety
An authorized user may override the alarm and unlock the door by turning the keyswitch. Turning the keyswitch in the opposite direction will reset the system so that it is in the armed position.
