    Random Act of Kindness


    We are so lucky here at SPLASH to have a space like the YMCA for the children to play in! In March the children made a card to all those who make play at the YMCA possible.

    Important Dates Parent fees are due on April 5th April 6thClosed for Good Friday (we are open on Easter Monday) Parent/Child Reminders
    Please remember to sign the sign in/out book when your children come and leave the center. This helps ensure safety in the case of an evacuation. Its spring and that means rain, mud, and mess! Since we go outside everyday, please remember to bring extra clothes for your children and to dress for the weather. We ask that you please not sit or place bags in the live plants in front of the office. Thank you for our consideration.

    Week of the Early Childhood Educator


    April 22nd to 28th is the week of the ECE! In celebration of the week, the staff and Board at SPLASH will be going Bingo Bowling. Help us celebrate the week of the ECE by showing your appreciation to all the staff who educate and care for your children.

    On April 22nd the world will celebrate Earth Day. This is a great opportunity to teach your children about the Earth and the natural environment as well as to increase their appreciation of the natural resources around them! We encourage you to take part in this national event and to show your appreciation towards the Earth.

    An Overview of March

    In March we looked at large animals and their families. This included elephants, dinosaurs, bears, whales, and giraffes! The children took part in various large-animal activities including painting tiger faces, making bear hat ears, and putting socks over their hands to imitate elephant trunks. The Eagles and Wolves also had a great time at their two Spring Break field trips where they went Bowling and to the Forks Festival of Fools!
    This Month This April is all about science and nature! We will be focusing on the season of Spring and helping the children understand the science of the season.

    Anniversaries and Changes
    Make sure to congratulate Kathy and Melchora on their anniversaries at SPLASH this month! Melly will celebrate her 7th year at Splash and Kathy celebrates 21 years. Thank you ladies for your dedication! Also, please welcome our two new staff members at SPLASH, Sharon and Elena! Sharon is working in the infant room and Elena is currently working with the Beavers group. Were so happy to have them with us!

    A new fundraiser is coming up with some awesome prizes.! Prizes include a Wii bundle and a 16GB iPod Nano. We will also be having a Mothers Day Plant Sale so please save slips and root plants for us to sell. We have lots of fundraising to do in order for us to have a full and successful summer so get ready to help out!

    A Story of Selflessness
    Marlene Englisbee is a grandparent of children at both centres. Recently, one of her neighbors who had 6 children, died on the way to hospital. It was found that the family had almost nothing in the home. Marlene got her friends and family, as well as Splash, mobilized to help out. Marlene worked night and day and was able to make a significant difference to help out the family in need. Thanks, Marlene, that is truly an unselfish act of kindness. You are a good role model for us all.
