Name of Drug NAPROXEN

Classification Nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drug(NSAID), nonopioid analgesic, antipyretic, antiinflammatory

Action Unknown. Thought to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis

Contraindications >hypersensitivity to drug or other NSAIDs >active GI bleeding or ulcer disease >asthma >pregnancy(third pregnancy)

Nursing Responsibility CNS: dizziness, Monitor GI status, drowsiness, Stay alert for signs headache, vertigo, and symptoms of GI light-headedness bleeding CV: palpitations, In long term use, tachycardia assess CBC with EENT: visual white cell disturbances, differential and tinnitus, auditory coagulation studies, GI: nausea, and monitor for diarrhea visual and hearing ,constipation, impairment heartburn, Monitor abdominal pain, cardiovascular status stomatitis, for tachycardia, GI BLEEDING palpitations, and SKIN: rash ,proritus, edema skin eruptions Monitor blood ,sweating glucose level closely ,photosensitivity on diabetic patient. OETHERS: thirst , edema, Allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis
