Automatic Control System For Electric Water Pump For Use In Household Applications

Under guidance of : Presented by:

INTRODUCTION

This automatic control system for electric water pump senses the water level inside the tank and accordingly turns on and turns off the motor.

WHY WE REQUIRE THIS ???

We require this because conventional method has following drawbacks :

involve human intervention no information about current water level in the tank require continuous monitoring wastage of water due to overflow

HOW DOES IT WORK ????

It has following three sensors

1. High level sensor : determines whether tank is full or not : placed near top of tank 2. Low level sensor : determines whether tank is empty or not : placed near bottom of tank 3. Supply line sensor : determines whether water is present in reservoir tank or not : placed near the bottom of tank

CONT
Output of these sensors is processed by a logic circuit which works on the following logic LLS X 0 1 1 1 0 HLS X 0 0 1 0 0 SLS 0 1 1 1 1 1 Output Motor off Motor on Motor remains on Motor off Motor remains off Motor again on 0 : water is not present 1 : water is present

CONT..

Output of the logic circuit controls the triac which in turn turns on and turns off the electric water motor accordingly.

HOW CAN WE CONSTRUCT IT ????

CONT
If we consider only LLS and HLS, then

LLS 0 1 1 1 0

HLS 0 0 1 0 0

Output Motor on Motor remains on Motor off Motor remains off Motor again on

CONT
In short

LLS 0 1 1

HLS 0 0 1

Output Motor on No change in previous state Motor off

0 : water is not present 1 : water is present

CONT
If we invert the output of LLS then LLS 1 0 0 HLS 0 0 1 Output Motor on No change in previous state Motor off

Above table is similar to the truth table for RS latch which is as follows: R 1 0 0 S 0 0 1 Q 1 NC 1 Q 0 NC 0 State Reset No change Set

CONT..
Thus we have

HLS Q

NOT gate
Q LLS LLS

RS latch using NOR gate

CONT..
Now we want Q 1 0 Q 0 1 Output 1 0

This is possible if we invert the output Q such that

Q 1 0 Q 1 0 Output 1 0

Above can be realized using AND or OR gate

CONT.
Thus we have
