The key takeaways are that SAP Project System (SAP PS) is used to manage large scale projects across various industries and ensures projects are executed on time and on budget. It breaks down projects into a work breakdown structure, networks of activities, and assigns tasks and resources.
The main components of SAP Project System are work breakdown structures (WBS) which map project deliverables, networks of activities which organize tasks in a process flow, activities which are the key tasks, and work centers which are the resources tasks are assigned to.
The main stages of the project lifecycle in SAP PS are planning, budget approval and execution, and closing. It involves creating the WBS, inputting the project budget, scheduling networks and activities, updating master data, collecting actual costs, periodic and final settlement, and closing the project.

Yugandhar Panga CSC Confidential - 2 Agenda SAP Project System (SAP PS) powers the worlds largest and most important projects. SAP PS is used to build buildings, construct huge refineries, turnaround plants, manage information system projects and coordinate a vast range of other large scale projects. Project managers and financial analysts need to make sure the project is executed on time and on budget. The executives use the PS module in SAP R/3 to ensure that resources and funds are put to use in the right ways at the right times. Introduction: CSC Confidential - 3 The building blocks of SAP Project System At the highest level of SAP PS, projects are defined and then structured into an organizational form that maps to the specific project. Work Breakdown Structure The project is first broken down into work breakdown structures (WBS) which map to specific project deliverables. Networks Each WBS can then be broken down into networks of activities. A network can be thought of as a list of tasks organized into a process flow with specific timing. Activities Activities are the key tasks to be completed. These activities map to internal activities, external activities, cost activities and materials components. Work Centers Internal activities are assigned to work centers (resources) to be completed.
