ETTV CALCULATION WITH IES-VE

Pramod Kamath

INTRODUCTION TO IES-VE

Suite of tools to conduct Thermal, Lighting and Energy

related analysis.
Split into inter-related modules, each with specific
functionality
Useful module on Greenmark scheme Version NRB/4.1

MODULES/APPLICATIONS IN IES-VE
ModelIT -

Build model, Create and assign construction templates

Apache Create and apply thermal templates, Load calcs, Energy

simulation
Suncast -

Solar shading calculations, Visualize solar flux

ApacheHVAC -Develop energy Model and calculate EEI, Calculate % savings

Flucs Pro -

Daylighting and Artificial lighting Calculations

LightPro -

Lighting layout and design

Radiance -

Glare analysis, Lighting level, Simulating daylight sensors

Etc,.

LOCATION/ORIENTATION
Tools> APLocate > Wizard
Set location to Singapore and acquire local design weather data
Orientation
Click the North angle symbol at the top right of the window and enter
value in degrees
Building Geometry
Attach DXF file of the plan and extrude to required height.
Draw each floor as a single space, segregating only the non-AC spaces
Ex: Staircase, Toilet, Store Etc,. As applicable

GMPRO NAVIGATOR

Verify Suitability for Greenmark

Create proposed model
Amend surface resistances if any error.
Run Suncast Simulation
Check ETTV Value
Generate ETTV Reports

GOOD PRACTICES

Maintain clean DXF files for comparing future Archi Updates

Generate model report to check for intersections, external holes,

slivers etc

Save file at regular intervals

Use default Greenmark constructions to duplicate and

amend
Plan enough buffer time to redo if any error or bugs.
