This PowerPoint presentation defines animation as the creation of moving pictures through a sequence of static images displayed rapidly to appear continuous. It discusses how animation brings drawings and objects to life through photographed sequences played at normal speeds. Key principles of animation are persistence of vision and phi, which allow the brain to perceive movement from progressive, rapid changes in images. Animation has uses in entertainment, advertising, instruction, art and propaganda through film, video and the web.

A POWERPOINT
PRESENTATION ON ANIMATION
Presented by: Ankita Agrawal Nandish Patel DEFINITIONS Animation is the creation of moving pictures one frame at a time.
In the abstract, an animation is a continuous,
time-varying image.
In practice, it is a sequence of static images
displayed in succession so rapidly that it looks continuous. ANIMATE MEANS Animate means to bring to life
When, the characters, objects,
abstract shapes that have been photographed in sequence, are played back at normal film or video speeds, it appears to come to life. PRINCIPLES OF ANIMATION Animation is possible because of a biological phenomenon known as persistence of vision and a psychological phenomenon called phi.
When the images are progressively and
rapidly changed the image is percieved to be moving. FRAME RATE REQUIREMENT Technically, 24 frames per second.
Animation that does not require
seamlessly smooth movement can be shot on 2s, which means that two frames of each drawing are captured rather than just one. This gives an effective frame rate of 12 frames per second for film. KEY POINTS Animation can be captured and digitized one frame at a time using a video camera.
Drawn or painted animation can be made
using a graphics application. Uses Animation has been used for entertainment, advertising, instruction, art and propaganda on film or video; it is also employed on the web.
Animation adds visual impact to your
multimedia projects. Many Multimedia applications for both Macintosh and Windows provide animation tools. E.g. A spinning globe, a flying butterfly, the famous DISNEY CONCLUSION Animation is an excellent way to present new information.
