What is an actuator?

Actuator is a type of MOTOR that is


responsible for moving or controlling a
mechanism or system.

It is operated by a source of energy, typically


Electric current or Hydralic pressure,
or pneumatic pressure, and converts that
energy into motion. An actuator is the
mechanism by which a control system acts
upon an environment.

What are the specifications?
 Which type of seating is required by the respective valve? Torque or limit
seating in the end positions

 Which signals are sent by higher level controls?

Directly on the actuator The controls & cover can be positioned
at every 90°

 Cable length between controls and
actuators may be up to 100 m
 If a position transmitter for remote position
indication is installed, screening for the
cables has to be provided
 RWG should be used as remote position
indicator
 Attention! Phase sequence must not be
changed between actuator and controls

- The cable glands are not included in the delivery
- Appropriate cable glands must be used to ensure the
nclosure protection
- Flameproof cable glands are required for enclosure

Actuators with AUMA MATIC are immediately ready for operation,
establish connection, perform settings – ready

The controls are programmed according to the specifications made in the


order

Only the application dependent parameters have to be programmed / set


on site (e.g. positioner adjustment).
