What is Education?
Education is the process of facilitatinglearning, or the acquisition of knowledge, skills, values, beliefs, and
habits. Educational methods include storytelling, discussion, teaching, training, and directed research.
Education frequently takes place under the guidance of educators, however learners may also educate
themselves.[1] Education can take place in formal or informal settings and any experience that has a
formative effect on the way one thinks, feels, or acts may be considered educational. The methodology of
teaching is called pedagogy.
What is formal Education?
Formal learning is education normally delivered by trained teachers in a systematic
intentional way within a school, higher education or university. It is one of three forms of
learning as defined by the OECD, the others being informal learning, which typically takes
place naturally as part of some other activity, and non-formal learning, which includes
everything else, such as sports instruction provided by non-trained educators without a
formal curriculum.Formal education is commonly divided formally into such stages as
preschool orkindergarten, primary school, secondary school and then college, university,
orapprenticeship.
What is non-formal education?
Non-formal education refers to education that occurs outside the formal school system.
Non-formal education is often used interchangeably with terms such as community
education, adult education, lifelong education and second-chance education. It refers to
a wide range of educational initiatives in the community, ranging from home-based
learning to government schemes and community initiatives. It includes accredited
courses run by well-established institutions as well as locally based operations with
little funding.
As non-formal education is diverse, this element has many aspects in common with
other elements, particularly Lifelong learning.
What is productive citizenry?
The popularly accepted concept of a Productive citizenry is the obvious positive atmosphere created
by the people in general. It is everyone participating in the development of the area for everyone’s
benefit. This means that more people are working and providing for their family. This could be done
to provide useful products which could be used for trading. Such an activity can produce more jobs
for everyone and in the end, maximize the collection of taxes to uplift more of the population. It is a
way of pitching in so everyone within the group can benefit. In order for this to succeed, a large
percentage of the population would have to do their part.
What is self-actualization?
Self-actualization pertains to the point within someone’s life
when an individual realizes who and what he or she really is. It is
the moment of clarity when it comes to knowing your abilities,
purpose, goals, and limits. It basically gives a clear path and
direction to your life.
What is the basis of primary
education as a human right?
The right to education has been recognized as a human right in a number of international
conventions, including the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights which
recognizes a right to free, compulsory primary education for all, an obligation to develop secondary
educationaccessible to all, on particular by the progressive introduction of free secondary education,
as well as an obligation to develop equitable access to higher education, ideally by the progressive
introduction of free higher education. Today, almost 70 million children across the world are
prevented from going to school each day.[1] As of 2015, 164 states were parties to the Covenant.[2]
The right to education also includes a responsibility to provide basic education for individuals who
have not completed primary education from the school and college levels. In addition to these
access to education provisions, the right to education encompasses the obligations of the students
to avoid discrimination at all levels of the educational system, to set minimum standards of
education and to improve the quality of education.is it right
