FUEL SUPPLY SYSTEM

CORE FUNCTIONS
• Its function is to ensure the smooth and uninterrupted supply of
fuel to other peripherals of an engine.
• The fuel must be finely atomized to mix with the air. This is why
injection systems deliver the fuel under pressure
• A variety of injection systems have existed since the earliest
usage of the internal combustion engine.
PETROL ENGINE
• In petrol engine the petrol is mixed with air in the
carburettor and then supplies it to engine cylinder.
CLASSIFICATION:
• Gravity feed system
• Pressure feed system
• Vacuum System
• Pump System
• FI System
DANIEL BERNOULLI
CARBURETTOR
• It is a device that blends air and fuel for an internal
combustion engine

GRAVITY FEED SYSTEM
• In this system the petrol is supply to the engine by
gravitational force.
• In this system the level of fuel is high than engine, force this
system is having fuel tank, cock, filter, and carburettor

PRESSURE FEED SYSTEM
• In this system the petrol is supplied with pressure by fuel
pump
• In this system the fuel tanks is fitted at lover level of engine
so that petrol cannot flow automatically.

• The diesel engine (also known as a compression-ignition
engine) is an internal combustion engine that uses the heat
of compression to initiate ignition and burn the fuel that has
been injected into the combustion chamber

INDIRECT AND DIRECT INJECTION
• In an indirect injection (abbreviated IDI) diesel engine, fuel
is injected into a small pre chamber, which is connected to
the cylinder by a narrow opening.
• In a direct injection (abbreviated DI) diesel engine, fuel is
injected directly into the cylinder.
INJECT
The main function of a injector system is to inject proper quantity
of fuel into the engine cylinder at a correct time at a
predetermined rate
