EJECTOR
 Create vacuum in the condenser.

 Three types of Ejectors:

 Priming Ejector

 Starting Ejector

 Main Ejector
CONDENSATE EXTRACTION PUMP
 The function of this pump is to pump out the condensate
to D/A through ejectors, GSC and LPH

 Stages:
The pressure build up in 5 stages as suction is at negative
pressure.

 Recirculation:
It is done when the de aerator level controller trips in
order to prevent cavitations.

DESIGN FEATURE OF CEP

 Vertical connected type pump

 Design capacity 283 m3/hr
 Speed 1450 rpm
 Thrust bearing
 Liquid NPSH required at eye of the first impeller is 201m
water column
 Caution not to run below head of 150m due to limitation of
motor power(6.6kv)
GLAND STEAM COOLER
 Steam from Deaerator or from auxiliary steam header is
supplied to the end seal of the HP rotor, IP rotor and LP rotor.

 It is done to eliminate the steam leakage to atmosphere from

the inlet and exhaust end of the cylinder.

 This steam is extracted by the special steam ejector to the

gland steam cooler.
LP HEATERS
 Turbine has been provided with non-controlled extractions
which are utilized for heating the condensate, from turbine
bleed steam.

 There are 4 low pressure heaters in which IP turbine last

extractions are used.

 These are of vertical construction with brass tubes, the ends of

which are expanded into tube plates.

DEAERATOR

• Presence of certain gases, principally oxygen, carbon-

di-oxide and ammonia, dissolved in water is generally
considered harmful because of their corrosive attack on
metals, particularly at elevated temperatures.

• Its function is to remove dissolved gases from the feed

water by mechanical means.
PRINCIPLE OF DEAERATION

 Henry’s law: The mass of gas with definite mass of liquid will
dissolve at a given temperature and is directly proportional to the
partial pressure of the gas in contact with the liquid. This holds
within close limits for any gas, which does not unite chemically
with the solvent.

 Solubility Law: Solubility of gases decreases with increase in

solution temperature and/or decrease in pressure.
