INTRODUCTION
● A newspaper is a periodic publication containing news and other
informative articles.

● The newspaper act as the agency of information and education.

● Unlike other newspapers in English, Times of India has achieved unique


growth in readership.

● Times of India started its journey on November 3rd, 1838 as The


Bombay Times and Journal of Commerce.
OBJECTIVES

● To work as an intern to get familiarized in sales and marketing functions


of the company.

● To understand the organizational design and structure.

years.

● The history of written news dates back to the Roman Empire around 59
BC.

● Acta Diurna, which was hard carved news published daily and posted
by the government in the Roman forum.

● The history of the printed newspaper goes back to 17th century Europe
when Johann Carolus published first newspaper in Germany in 1605.

● India has a growing and constantly changing newspaper market.

● The availability of newspapers in different languages means that India’s


newspaper market appeals to millions of non-English speakers.

● The first newspaper in India was the Hicky’s Bengal Gazette in 1780.

HISTORY
● Founded on November 3rd, 1838 as The Bombay Times and Journal of
Commerce.

● In 1850, began to publish daily editions.

● In 1861, The Bombay Times was renamed as The Times of India.

● It was after India’s independence that the ownership of the paper


passed on to the famous industrial family of Dalmiyas and later it was
taken over by Sahu Santi Prasad Jain of the Sahu Jain group from
Bijnore, UP.
