increases continuously.

0.3 Million in 1996 to over 250 million currently.

 4th largest commercial vehicle market
 11th largest passenger car market.

 Access to television grew from 20% of the urban population (1991) to 90% of the urban
population (2009). Even in the rural areas satellite television has a grow up market.
 In the cities Internet facility is everywhere .Extension of internet facilities even to rural
areas.
 Global food chain /restaurants has already found a huge market in the urban areas of India.
 Telecommunication and Software Industries are booming in India.
 Entertainment sector in India has a worldwide market. Bollywood movies are distributed
and accepted world-wide. Big international companies(Walt Disney,20th Century Fox,
Columbia Pictures) are investing on this sector.
Impact of globalization on agriculture in India

 Agriculture acquired 17% of India’s GDP in 2008.


 Transfer of technology to India.
 Global market (major exporter of Basmati rice)
 Through imports India is fulfilling its deficit in production like pulses.
 Agriculture Scientists are applying new technologies and instruments in growing crops.
 Different state governments of India are taking initiative to literate the farmers.

 Favorable impact on overall growth rate of economy. This is a major improvement because
India’s growth rate in 70s was only 3% which was even less than Indonesia.
 India’s position in global economy improved from 8th position to 4th position in 2001.
 Service sector now contributes to maximum part of GDP with contribution of more than
57% with ranking 18th among leading exporters of services.
 Boosting agriculture growth through diversification and development of agro processing.
 World class infrastructure.
 Westernization of local culture.
 Technological advancement.
