MOBILE DETECTOR

Computer report
Supervised by Ms. Suha Abdul Raheem
Done by Khadeeja Mostafa
Objective:
To clarify the applications of electronics components, also we chose
communications tracker application because of it is one of the most
common devices at this generation of electronic use in all areas of life.

our mobile detector can sense an active mobile phone from a small
distance. So it can be used to prevent the use of cell phones in
examination halls, secret rooms, etc.

The service can detect incoming and outgoing calls even if the mobile
phone is in sleep mode. The moment the mobile phone detector
detects the RF transmission signal from an active mobile phone, it
starts emitting a flashing light from the led until the signal stops
As the picture shown to make the mobile
detector we needed:
• CA3130 IC
• BC548 Transistor
• 2.2MΩ Resistor (x2)
• 100KΩ Resistor
• 1KΩ Resistor
• 100μF Capacitor (50V)
• 0.22μF Capacitor
• 47pF Capacitor
• LED (Light Emitting Diode)
• 9V Battery
• Breadboard
CA3130 IC
Pin Pin name Description
number

1,5 Offset Null Optionally used to remove the offset voltage at the
Pins output pin to make it perfect 0V during off state.

2 Inverting The Inverting pin is also given a fixed voltage

Input

3 Non- The Non-Inverting Pin of the comparator is give a

Inverting variable  voltage
Input

4 Ground This pin is connected to the ground of the system

(Negative voltage can also be used)

6 Output This is the output pin of the operational -amp

7 VCC+ Provide the operating voltage for the operational –
Amp. For CA3130 it is up to +16V

8 Strobe Allows you to turn off output stage

BC548 Transistor

The BC548 is a general-purpose NPN bipolar

junction transistor is a type of transistor that
uses both electron and hole charge carriers, and
it had the following properties:
Material of Transistor: Si
Maximum Collector Power Dissipation : 0.5 W
Maximum Collector-Base Voltage : 30 V
Maximum Collector-Emitter Voltage : 30 V
Maximum Emitter-Base Voltage : 5 V
Maximum Collector Current : 0.1 A
Resistors
A resistor is a passive two-terminal electrical
component that implements electrical
resistance In electronic circuits, resistors are
used to reduce current flow .
In our project we used three different values of
resistors which are :
2.2MΩ Resistor (x2)
100KΩ Resistor
1KΩ Resistor
Capacitors
A capacitor is a passive two-terminal
electronic component that stores electrical
energy in an electric field. The effect of a
capacitor is known as capacitance. While some 100μF Capacitor (50V)

capacitance exists between any two electrical

conductors in proximity in a circuit, a
capacitor is a component designed to add
capacitance to a circuit.
We used three types of different capacitors as
shown in the pictures. 0.22μF Capacitor
47 pF capacitor
LED (Light Emitting Diode)
A light-emitting diode (LED) is a semiconductor
light source that emits light when current flows
through it.
Mobile detector is a device used to track communications within a
specified range of space

Picture no.1 shows : the circuit of the mobile

detector we have made
How dose it work?
Well 0.22μF capacitor disc which connected between pin-2 & pin-3 will
work as antenna that pick up the radio frequency signals into the IC
because capacitors will work together to make a transmission line that
intercepts outgoing signals from mobile phone, so capacitors will make
field to save the power of signals and transfer it to the pins of the IC.
pin-7 Provides the operating voltage for the Operational-Amp. And
connected to the collector of the transistor.
The output of the operational -amp. Is pin-6 which connected to the base
of the transistor so when the capacitors catch a signal the base will let the
current flow from the collector to the emitter of the transistor ,depend on
that the emitter connected to the led so when voltage between the
anode and the cathode of the led exceed cut-in voltage the led will work
Led waveform at off state which had 0.133V over it.
Led waveform when a call signal pass through the
mobile detector with 0.305V over it
Led waveform with more than one signal pass
throughout the mobile detector
