What is Sigtran and why you should care!
?
MGW
MSCS
Replaces legacy TDM network equipment with lower cost IP based network equipment.
Op-ex and cap-ex savings by reducing number of locations and retiring optical monitoring capacity.
Migrates physical links to logical links obscuring SS7 traffic and procedures inside the “pipe”
complicating troubleshooting.
More complex troubleshooting is a threat to revenue, you NEED visibility of failing calls.

need to be addressed before they become Service, Business and ultimately Customer effecting.
• Value Proposition:
• Access to a data feed, derived from network signaling data, allowing information to be
derived on the following key business areas:
• Network Performance – Access, Core and Interconnect
• Service Performance – Voice, SMS, Data, Roaming
• Customer Performance – Pre-paid, Post paid, Corporates, VIPs
• Device Performance – Handsets, Terminals
• Vendor Performance – NEMs, VASs
• To enable (accelerate) integration projects by utilizing the flexibility to both enrich and
filter on specific data feeds as well as pre-determine the format and content.

ISUP
• Wireless and Wireline. Support via a Remote Site ISUP
Processor (RSP).
• Call completion analysis between 2 parties.
• Intra network or inter network depending on the associated
network monitoring points.
• Feed includes call failure (cause code) analysis, not often
available from similar switch generated CDRs.
MAP
MAP
• Wireless. Support via a RSP.
• Contains both SMS and Roaming based transactions.
• Feed can be deployed around specific network elements
e.g. SMSCs, HLRs, or across Inter-network links.
• Feed includes the TCAP response codes, not available
from similar SMSC generated billing feeds.

A Interface
• Wireless. Support via a RSP. ISUP
• Contains not only voice CDRs, but also other events like
SMS, Emergency calls, Paging, Location Updates etc.
• Allows capture of Inter MSC calls. Monitoring ISUP around the
MSC will not support this.
• Can also include location based information in the form of Cell IDs

Feature: Aggregation
• Supports the aggregation of xDRs or records of a specific type within a
specified time interval.
• As an example, an aggregated record can be generated relative to a
specific customer group where the records being processed are
compared
against a specific list of Customer (Subscriber) IMSIs or MSISDNs.
Benefit:
• Reduces the volume of records output reducing the processing
requirements and dependency on the target Assurance solution.
Feature: Filtering
• Supports the application of filtering on the xDRs or records processed to
further segment the output stream.
• As an example, a filter can be applied to output only those records with a
specific release cause code – failure code X, failure code Y.
Benefit:
• Reduces the volume of records output reducing the processing
requirements and dependency on the target Assurance solution.
