6 BASIC SENTENCE PATTERNS
 S = SUBJECT
 V = VERB
 DO = DIRECT OBJECT
 IO = INDIRECT OBJET
 OC =OBJECT COMLEMENT
 PA = PREDICATE OBJECTIVE
 PN = PREDICATE NOMINATIVE
SUBJECT
 THE PERSON OR THING ABOUT WHICH
SOMETHING IS BEING SAID
 TO FIND THE SUBJECT, PUT THE WORD ( WHO
OR WHAT ) BEFORE THE VERB IN THE FRONT OF
A QUESTION.
 EXAMPLE = JOHN SMILED
 WHO / WHAT SMILED JOHN
 JOHN IS THE SUBJECT
VERB
 THR VERB IS THE WORD WHICH STATE THE
ACTION OR STATE BEING OF THE SUBJECT IN
THE SENTENCE

 THE DIRECT OBJECT IS A NOUNOR PRONOUN


WHICH RECEIVES THE ACTION OF THE VERBS.
 TO FIND THE DIRECT OBJECT, TAKE THE VERB
AND PLACE THE WORDS WHOM OR WHAT AFTER
IN A QUESTION FORM.
 EXAMPLE – MARIA HELD A BOOK.

PHRASES, ETC. ) CAN BE ADDED TO MAKE THE SENTENCES
MORE DESCRIPTIVE AND INTERESTING , BUT THEY DO
NOT AFFETC TO BASIC SENTENCE PATTERN.
