Slow light

Information technology

Optical communications

Quantum computing

Quantum information processing

Storage of data

Optical networks and terahertz communications.

Slow light
 Slow light is the propagation of an optical pulse or other modulation of an
optical carrier at a very low group velocity.
 Slow light occurs when a propagating pulse is substantially slowed down
by the interaction with the medium in which the propagation takes place.
Terahertz Communication
Terahertz mean trillion cycle per second.
It radiation is sometimes considered a subset of
infrared radiation.
i.e., It waves lies between long wavelength of infrared
and short wavelength of microwave radiation.
Current wireless system utilize carrier waves less than
5 GHZ which restrict their maximum data rate, 100’s
Mbit/s typically.
Higher frequency carriers enable high data rates and
therefore 1000’s Gbit/s dates rates are on offer with
THZ carrier waves.
