Self
 Is the union of elements,
namely; body, thoughts,
feeling or emotions, and
sensations that constitute the
individuality and identity of
a person. It includes a
person’s life purpose,
meaning, and aspirations.
Body
Constitutes your
physical
attributes, your
health, your
posture, and
poise.
Thoughts
 Theway you think
and how you
perceive things
around you affect
how you feel about
them and bring
about sensations.
Emotions & Sensations
 Your experience that
prompts you to act and
behave the way you do.
The union of these
elements make up your
character personality
and essentially
distinguishes you from
others.
In psychology,
Personality refers to the set of behaviors, feelings,
thoughts and motives that identifies an individual. It
is the essence of who we are and is the embodiment
of one’s physical, psychological, cognitive, affective,
and spiritual self.
WHY IS KNOWING YOURSELF SO
IMPORTANT?
Well, it is so because the knowing and understanding
yourself part would help you to make much better
decisions, it will improve your decision-making habits,
in settling and reaching appropriate goals and
altogether living more productively and more. You can
play many interesting personality tests and evaluations
for self-discovery that can help you become more in tune
to yourself.
Personality is influenced by:
NATURE NURTURE
Personality
Personality is influenced by both Nature (heredity or
genetic make-up) and Nurture (environment). There is
no single gene that creates a trait. It is always a complex
combination of genes, environmental exposure and
experiences, and cultural backgrounds.
Personality & temperaments
connections
How are personality and temperament linked?
Your temperament, sometimes called disposition, refers to aspects of
your personality influenced by your biology, not your experiences.
Your personality involves your thoughts, beliefs, dispositions,
preferences, behaviors, and traits. Both your temperament and
character influence your personality.
How does temperament
influence personality?
What comes first temperament or personality?
Temperament is a basic inherited style whereas personality is
acquired on top of the temperament.
Temperament can also be said to be the emotional activity of a person.
It is always better to study one's own temperament as it helps in
understanding our strengths and weaknesses.
Note:
As Christians, and especially as Christian leaders, we should use
personality tests to better understand ourselves and others. They are not
intended to lock us into one particular personality.
i.e. We are not allowed to blame our sin on our personality type. We are not
slaves to our personality, we are slaves to Christ. If Christ is changing us
day by day, He will sand away our rough edges so that we will become
more like Him
