Sunday School

1) The passage from 1 Corinthians 7:17 instructs believers to remain in the situation and condition in which God first called them. Paul says this is his rule for all the churches. 2) Several other passages are cited that reinforce themes of not giving up hope as believers called according to God's purpose, avoiding familiarity by remembering our role as salt and light of the world, and how disconnecting from Christ leads to spiritual death. 3) Believers are encouraged to stay faithful in their calling by God and let their good works shine for God.

1 CORINTHIANS 7: 17

EACH OF YOU SHOULD CONTINUE TO LIVE IN

WHATEVER SITUATION THE LORD HAS PLACED
YOU, AND REMAIN AS YOU WERE WHEN GOD
FIRST CALLED YOU. THIS IS MY RULE FOR ALL
THE CHURCHES.
REMAIN AS YOU
WERE CALLED BY
GOD.
1 CORINTHIANS 7: 17
FOR US NOT TO QUIT/SURRENDER

•    Psalms 31:24 - Be of good courage, and he shall

strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the
LORD.
TO KEEP YOU OUT IN DANGER

John 15:5-6
WE ARE CALLED FOR A PURPOSE

Romans 8:28
- And we know that all things work together for
good to them that love God, to them who are the
called according to his purpose.
TO AVOID THE DANGER OF FAMILIARITY

     FAMILIARITY
extensive knowledge of or close
associate with someone
or something leads to a loss of respect
or value for them or it.
TO ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT WE ARE THE SALT
AND LIGHT OF THE WORLD
Matthew 5:13-16 New King James Version

13 “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then
good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.

14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a
lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in
heaven.
