Theoretical framework
The VARK model, developed by Fleming and Mills (1992), categorizes learning
styles into four dimensions: visual, auditory, reading/writing, and kinesthetic.
The present study is embedded in the Visual, Auditory, Reading and Writing,
and Kinesthetic (VARK) theory, which classifies how learners receive
➛
information into four categories, sometimes referred to as modalities. ➛
By incorporating the VARK theory into instruction, teachers can design classes
that cater to each of these modalities, especially in language learning. This
allows students to identify their learning styles and optimize their learning by
focusing on the mode that best suits them, thus improving their academic
performance.
