Module 2: Take Decisive Action
• Outcome: Participants to be more aware of
• How they make decisions
• What influences their decisions
• How to improve Decision Making
Making decisions allows us to move issues
forward and take accountability.

• Because if you don’t make decisions,

you’ll be frozen in the place you are.
• You can not MOVE ON.
Some decisions we face are very complicated
and acting decisively is difficult.

• Should we break up?

• Or am I willing to live the rest of my
life in Misery?
We use emotional thinking and rational thinking to
come to a decision and it’s important to recognize
that we do this.

• Should I Buy a 3000 peso swimwear

for this summer’s Insta Shoots?
• Or Should I use the 3000 for
Entrepreneurship Seminars?
Being indecisive can be frustrating for the person
and for those whom the decision may affect.

• Should I start a Business and be my

Own Boss?
• Should I stay in the comfort of
being an employee?
Working out what will happen if you do make the
decision, or Don’t make the decision, can help you
decide what may be the right decision.

• SWOT analysis
• Rubrics analysis
• PESTLE analysis
• Item analysis
It may also help to find out why you are having
difficulty with a decision.
Identifying what is blocking you can enable
you to figure out how to remove the blocker.

• Go to Siargao or Singapore?
• Breakup and move on or Hold until steady?
• Which career move to take?

• We're faced with an almost unimaginable…number of

decisions every day
Why Can’t We Decide?

• People sometimes get frozen and can't make

a decision
Blockers

• Blockers are the concerns preventing you from making a Decision.

• There are 3 Main Types of Blockers

• Concern over what can go Wrong is decision is Wrong.

• You Don’t Have enough information
• You worry about looking like an Idiot if decision is wrong.
Exercise 2
• Each Group Should have a
Volunteer to share his/her
Experience (Had Difficulty
in Decision Making)
• The Group Should Answer
Exercise 2 using the
volunteer’s Experience.
Samples of Blockers

• To overcome above Blockers, Proceed to page 6-7

Concern over what can go Wrong is decision is
Wrong.

• 1. List the things that could go wrong, and

what you will have in place to either:
• 2. Monitor for indications it is going off track
so you can mitigate early
• 3. Determine that the decision is wrong and
change the decision
Blocker is that you don’t have enough
information

• 1. Determine what information you do need and

time frame to get it so you can make the decision
• 2. Determine if you can make the decision
despite the uncertainty and what would be the
risk of that
• 3. Determine the risk of not making the decision
now but waiting for the information
Blocker is you are worried about looking like an idiot if the
decision is
wrong

• 1. Consider discussing the options with

others, especially those who may need to
help you implement the results of the
decision, as that way you can test your
ideas and also get buy in from those who
matter
• 2. Should asking others been seen as a sign
of strength rather than weakness? Will it
actually build respect and trust?
Take Decisive Action

• Sometimes it is hard to make decisions

• We Create Blockers that prevents us making decisions
• We can identify strategies to overcome the blockers
The Matrix
• Agent Smith: Why, Mr. Anderson? Why, why, why? Why
do you do it? Why get up? Why keep fighting? Do you
believe you're fighting for something? For more than your
survival? Can you tell me what it is? Do you even know? Is
it freedom? Or truth? Perhaps peace? Could it be for love?
Illusions, Mr. Anderson. Vagaries of perception. Temporary
constructs of a feeble human intellect trying desperately
to justify an existence that is without meaning or purpose.
And all of them as artificial as the Matrix itself, although
only a human mind could invent something as insipid as
love. You must be able to see it, Mr. Anderson. You must
know it by now. You can't win. It's pointless to keep
fighting. Why, Mr. Anderson? Why? Why do you persist?

Neo : Because I CHOOSE to.
