plant.

❑It is the second most important

vegetable crop next to potato.
❑It is a flowering plant of the
night shade family
(Solanaceae).
TEMPERATURE
❑The best temperature
range for the growing
season is between 60ºF and
90ºF

❑Temperature above 90ºF or

below 55ºF will slow the
growth, pollination, and
maturation of the tomato.
TEMPERATURE
❑ Its minimum
temperature is 10ºC and
maximum is 34ºC.

❑ Optimum temperature
is between 26ºC and 29ºC.
RELATIVE
HUMIDITY
❑It ranges between 65% and 85%.
❑ Higher relative humidity
levels negatively influence ❑ Low relative humidity
pollen release and can cause infertility,
distribution on the stigma. due to pollen drying
❑ High humidity can also out before germination
create a favorable of the pollen on the
environment for the stigma, which leads to
development of various small, deformed hollow
foliar disease. fruit.
❑ Incidence of blotchy
ripening also increases.
❑Low relative humidity can cause infertility, due to
pollen drying out before germination of the pollen on
the stigma, which leads to small, deformed hollow fruit.
LIGHT
❑ The daylight requirements
for tomatoes needs at least
eight (8) hours to produce
fruit.

❑ 12-16hours will produce the

65 degrees F prior to setting
▪ Eggs can be held approximately 7 to
10 days before setting without a serious
decrease in hatchability.
▪ Set only clean eggs at a temperature
of 99.5 to 100 degrees F for 28 days (3x
each day for 25 days)

LIGHT AND
TEMPERATRURE
▪ Poults
▪ (keep warm during first week of life)
(brooded)

heat sources (lamps) to increase
temperature to 95 degrees F
under heat source

▪ After the first 10 days, decrease the room
temperature each day ( 5 Degrees F per week)
until it
release 70 degrees F.
▪ Light dim ( first week)
▪ 12 to 14 hours of light is sufficient, afterwards
