VSD Pair and Capacity Based Software Pricing

7
Capacity Definition – Internal Usable Capacity

Internal Usable Capacity:

Total internal system capacity available after RAID groups have been
configured.

Customers no longer license software for capacity overhead associated

with RAID!

Internal Raw Capacity: 80TB

Internal Usable Capacity: 60TB

8
Capacity Definition – External Usable Capacity

External Usable Capacity:

Total capacity virtualized and accessed through the Virtual Storage Platform.

External Usable Capacity:

20TB

9
Capacity Definition – Total Used Capacity

Total Used (Replicated) Capacity:

Total capacity of all source and target volumes on a
S-VOL
S-VOL system. This will continue to be the capacity
measured and licensed by our replication software
offerings: ISR, DR, and HRpM.
P-VOL

Note: Total used capacity only counts consumed

capacity for thin-provisioned volumes.

0
Licensing Model Depends on Number of VSD and
Capacity

Base license prices and capacity ceilings for the Virtual Storage Platform are
set based on the number of VSD pairs installed in the system.

1 VSD Pair Capacity Ceiling: 220TB

2 VSD Pair Capacity Ceiling: 240TB

3 VSD Pair Capacity Ceiling: 260TB

4 VSD Pair Capacity Ceiling: 280TB

New Software Licensing Options

Fixed-Term and Subscription Software Licenses

License Type Definitions:

 Perpetual. Perpetual licenses and give the customer

the right to run the software as long as they
continue to comply with the terms of the license
agreement.

 Fixed-term. A term license specifies a limited time period

during which the customer is allowed to use the software. At the
end of the term, the customer must stop using the software
unless they purchase new licenses or extend the term of the
license through an agreement with the software vendor.

 Subscription. Subscription licenses are paid for with a recurring

(annual) fee to continue using the software. If the fee is not paid,
the customer must stop using the software.
