    Mr. Angeles encountered an exceptional mat
    weaver and commissioned him to create
    personalized sleeping mats for each family
    member.
    The mats would showcase the dominant
    color of each individual's birthstone,
    ensuring that the family would appreciate
    the thoughtful gesture.
    Mr. Angeles' heart filled with anticipation as
    he eagerly awaited their arrival at home.
    The Angeles family eagerly awaited Mr.
    Angeles's return from his regular
    inspections. However, this time, his
    arrival held special significance.

    During his recent trip to the south, he had


    stumbled upon news that would forever
    change their lives.

    He had written from Mariveles,


    expressing his astonishment and
    eagerness to share this unexpected
    revelation with his cherished family.
    As Nana Emilia
    receives the letter,
    she reads it that
    morning and reads it
    over again every
    chance she gets when
    she leaves the
    kitchen.
    The mail that they receive from Mr.
    Angeles excites them like there's no
    tomorrow. It was read again by her
    oldest son, Jose, at the dinner table.
    She sent a reply to Mr. Angeles and
    received another letter from him
    telling them that he could join them
    for dinner and that he had the mat with
    him.
    Nana Emilia goes to the closet and
    shows the old mat that her mother
    gave her; it was given to them at
    their wedding, and they only use it
    during special occasions or when a
    member of a family gets sick.
    Mr. Angeles arrived at
    their home with the
    mats and fruits in his
    hand, and his family
    greeted him excitedly
    with big smiles.
    As the father unboxes the
    mats, all of his family
    members are gathered around
    him, waiting patiently for the
    mats to be unfolded and
    witnessing it with their own
    eyes.
    The mats were given to them one by one; they

    were all happy with what they received, and

    Nana Emilia, who was beside her husband,

    looked at their children lovingly.


    Nana Emilia notices the
    three remaining mats. She
    wondered and asked Mr.
    Angeles to whom he would
    give those mats.
    When Mr. Angeles heard
    Nana Emilia's question, he
    looked at the frame beside the
    table with tears visible in his
    eyes. Nana Emilia understood
    what was happening, and it
    made her tear up.
    When Nana Emilia heard
    what Mr. Angeles said, she
    broke down and got on her
    knees while shaking her
    head, and their children came
    close to her and comforted
    her.
    Nana Emilia and their children
    go to Mr. Angeles, and they hug
    each other as they watch the
    unfolded mats that are very
    different from them; the color is
    deadly dull, and the names don't
    shine nor glow.
