Do you recall the phrases and sections of a
musical composition?
Like for example, measures 1-4 with the
lyrics “Twinkle, twinkle little star, how I
wonder what you are” is phrase 1. Now do
the rest of the measures to identify other
phrases.
FORM
● It is the overall structure of a
musical composition.
● It depends on the number of
sections that make up a song.
Phrases are combined to create sections which
have a similar feel. There are songs which are
made up of one section only. Most songs, however,
have two or more sections. Every section may
differ in tone, beat, tempo, or key. The primary
elements of form are repetition, contrast, and
variation.
Simple Forms in Music:
1. Binary Form – A binary form is made
up of two sections. These 2 sections
must be different from each other.
AB – starts with section A and ends in
section B.
2. Ternary Form – is made up of three
sections.
There are two types of ternary form
ABC – has three sections and ends with
section C.
ABA – the A section appears both at the
beginning and at the end. The B section
is contrasting in character/significantly
different from the A section.
3. Rondo (ABACA) – has 3
contrasting sections in between
repetition of the A section.
It can be represented by these
symbols:
Example of song in Binary
Form.
Bayan Ko
A
B
Ibon mang may layang lumipad, kulungin mo
at umiiyak
Bayan pa kayang sakdal dilag, ang di
magnasang makaalpas
Plipinas kong minumutya, pugad ng luhako’t
dalita
Aking adhika makita kang sakdal laya
Lupang Hininirang
A
Bayang magiliw perlas ng Silanganan
Alab ng puso sa dibdib mo’ybuhay
Lupang hinirang duyan ka ng magiting
Sa manlulupig di ka pasisiil.
B
Sa dagat at bundok sa simoy at sa langit
mong bughaw
May dilag ang tula at awit sa paglayang
minamahal
Ang kislap ng watawat mo’y tagumpay na
nag niningning
Ang bituin at araw nya kailan pa ma’y di
magdidilim.
C
Lupa ng araw ng luwalhati’t pagsinta
Buhay ay langit sa piling mo
Aming ligaya na pag may mang-aapi
Ang mamatay nang dahil sa ‘yo.

PRINTMAKING (Silk-screen Printing)
Printmaking is the process of art creation with the use of a
carved screen to transfer ink onto another surface. It is
often an interesting activity for young learners like you.
Even if you are not born as an artist, you can still achieve
unexpected results using a few simple materials. In the
past, creating customized shirt with your own unique
design would be difficult and expensive. But with the help
of technology, one can create a personalized design and
create a masterpiece through various techniques.
In the past, creating customized shirt with
your own unique design would be difficult
and expensive. But with the help of
technology, one can create a personalized
design and create a masterpiece through
various techniques.
Silk Screen Printing
The screen-printing process involves creating a
screen and utilizes it as a stencil for applying layers
of ink on the printing surface. In this procedure, you
require various screens for distinct colors that are
used in the design and merged to get the final look.
The silkscreen printing technique makes
use of a woven mesh to support an ink-
blocking stencil to acquire a desired
image. The process involves using a
stencil to apply ink onto another material,
usually fabric that can keep the image to
its surface.
It is simpler and more cost-
effective to utilize silk screen
printing artists for mass
production, rather than digital
printing on fabric.
Advantages of Screen Printing

• Highly cost-efficient process for bulk orders

• Easy to print on specified areas
• Huge range of printable fabrics such as
wood, textiles, glass and more
• Top-quality output
• Long-lasting prints
What are the materials needed in silkscreen
printing?
1. The Design
You can draw a design with your own hands or use
computer software to generate the artwork and
print in a transparency.
2. The Screen and Its Frame
A screen will be required to make the
stencil, through which the ink will pass
onto your shirt. It can be bought from a
store, or you can build one for yourself.
You can use either wood or aluminum to
make the frame.
The screens should be large enough to
accommodate the designs. For designs of
standard detail, 110 mash count should
serve well, however, for more detailed
design a screen of higher mash count will
be required.
3. Emulsion
The screen needs to be coated with the
liquid chemical called the emulsion. It is
sensitive to light and becomes most
sensitive when dry.
4. Exposure Unit
After applying the emulsion, you
will need to cure the liquid by
exposing it to the light.
5. Washout Booth
Following the exposure to the light,
you will need to rinse both sides of the
screen with water.
6. Inks/Textile paint
Some basic colors will need to be
purchased to get things underway.
7. Squeegee
This is a material used for spreading textile paint in
the screen.
8. Tacker
It’s essential to staple the inside of the screens
before you start printing. Getting a tape gun will
make things simple for you.
Safety Precautions in
Silkscreen Printing

• Use protective mask to

avoid inhalation of paint.
• All flammable and hazardous materials
used must be kept in closed containers
and stored in a safe place after use.
• Use electrical equipment with proper
care and handling.
How to do Silk Screen Printing
on Fabric?
Prepare a work area first and
then follow these steps.
a. Lay out your
wooden frame onto
your choice of fabric.
Staple your silk
screen very
tightly to the frame
using a tacker.
b. Spread your mixed-up
emulsion onto the fabric
very thinly in a
completely dark room.
Spread it on both sides
and make sure the whole
thing is wet, with no
spots missed.
c. Let it dry in
a completely
dark place
overnight.
d. Spread the
black paper all
over the floor and
put your screen on
top.
e. Tape your
transparencies with
clear tape to
the dry surface of
the screen.
f. Set up your lamp
directly over the screen
(distance according to
directions) and turn the
light on for however long
it says in the directions.
g. Rinse your
screen with
water. Let it
dry.
h. Lay your screen staple-side
down on your fabric, put a line of
paint on the screen, along one
side, and with your squeegee, lay
down a flood stroke using light
pressure. The next pass should be
firm with a smooth motion to press
the ink through the screen onto the
fabric.
i. Lift up the screen
and you will have
an image on the
fabric. Let it dry.
j. Iron the back
side of the fabric.
Follow the time
suggested.
k. Wash
the fabric.
Things to Remember:
• Make sure that the screen is tightly
attached against the fabric.
• In printing t-shirts, put a piece of cardboard
of paper inside the fabric to act as a barrier.
• To improve the slipperiness of the ink,
add transparent base.
• Washing up of screens and tools must
be done immediately after use.
In this activity, you will
design a t-shirt
promoting your school
using a digital software.
Materials needed:
• Computer, laptop, or tablet
• Digital art software (any
available)
• Printer
Steps to follow:
1. Create a design promoting your school. Make
use of the digital software available on your
computer. Apply the techniques you learned in
the previous lessons.
2. Print your design and have it evaluated by your
teacher.
Directions: Answer the following
questions.

What is meant by
ENVIRONMENTAL
SANITATION?
Environmental sanitation also known as public
cleanliness, refers to a set of actions geared towards
improving the quality of the environment and reducing
the amount of diseases. These includes using clean and
safe toilets, keeping water sources clean, and disposing
of garbage safely.
The management of water,
solid wastes, and industrial
wastes, as well as the topic of
pollution and noise control, all
fall under the scope of
environmental sanitation.

Environment
Poor sanitation Environment
You live in an environment that is full of living
organisms, both visible and invisible to the
naked eye. Bacteria are microscopic
organisms that are an essential part of the
environment. Bacteria are everywhere in
nature and they have an important role in
maintain life on the whole planet. Your well-
being needs a healthy environment.
Poor sanitation has negative impacts on
the environment and eventually on the
health of the people living in it. People
living in crowded city slums and villages
with poor sanitation means wastes lie on
the streets, clogs the drains, and
creates an immediate local hazard. This
condition also creates ideal conditions
for the growth of disease-causing
organisms.
Some diseases and disorders due to poor sanitation are:
Respiratory Diseases
Poor environmental sanitation causes outdoor
and indoor pollution. Acute respiratory infections,
such as pneumonia and chronic respiratory
diseases, are linked to poor sanitation.
Respiratory infections are one of the biggest
causes of deaths in the world every year.
Skin Diseases

Poor environmental sanitation can also cause some

skin diseases. Scabies is not considered a serious
condition but it is very common in poor, crowded
communities which may seriously impair the quality of life of
affected children. It is a parasite infestation of the skin caused
by microscopic mites that burrow in the skin.
Gastrointestinal Diseases and Disorder
Diarrhea and cholera are two common
gastrointestinal diseases caused by poor
sanitation and hygiene. Diarrheal diseases
are the most common problem caused by
poor sanitation and contaminated water.
Cholera is a bacterial infection throughout
the intestinal tract. It causes diarrhea and if
not treated, it can cause severe
dehydration and death.
The kind of germs- parasites, bacteria, viruses-
depend on the geographic area where a
person lives and its level of sanitation and
hygiene standard. Ascariasis (roundworm
infection), trichuriasis (whipworm infection),
and hookworm disease are intestinal worm
infections caused by poor sanitation.
Neurological Impairness
Neurological impairments
are a group of disorders that
affect the central and
peripheral nervous system-
the brain, spinal cord, and
the nerves.
Some of these disorders are epilepsy,
Alzheimer’s disease and other
dementias, cerebrovascular diseases including
stroke, migraine and other headache disorders,
and multiple sclerosis. A neurological
impairment or disability may affect a person’s
speech, motor skills, vision, memory, muscle
actions, and learning abilities.
One of the causes of neurological disorders
in children, aside from traumas, infections,
heredity, and tumors, is exposure to toxic
chemicals, particularly lead and mercury
poisoning. Lead a mercury can enter your
body through ingestion or swallowing,
inhalation, or absorption through the
skin or mucus membranes.
Environmental sanitation, also known as
public cleanliness, refers to a set of
actions geared towards improving the
quality of the environment and reducing
the amount of disease. Some diseases
and disorders caused by poor sanitation
are respiratory diseases, skin diseases,
gastrointestinal diseases and
neurological impairments.

Disease- causing organisms are part
of human existence. They co-exist
with people every day in the
environment. Infections or diseases
happen when your body’s line of
defense, like your immune system, is
overpowered by the attack of germs.
You can avoid getting infected by any disease-
causing organism by being consistent with your
daily health habits and personal hygiene practices.
You should also, in your own way, contribute to
public cleanliness. Participate and maintain
healthy practices at home. Improving
