    • Miniature paintings are a form of intricate, detailed
    artwork that originated in the and South Asia,
    particularly in the Mughal and Rajput courts of
    India, during the 16th century.
    • These paintings are typically very small, often only
    a few inches in size, and were traditionally painted
    by hand using very fine brushes and pigments.
    Miniature • Miniature paintings often depict scenes from

    and are characterized by their intricate detailing,
    vibrant colors, and richly layered compositions.

    • Vibrant colours: They are made from natural
    pigments derived from minerals, plants, and
    even insects.
    • Fusion of styles: Indian miniature paintings are
    a fusion of Persian, Mughal, and Indian styles.
    • Fine details: Indian miniature paintings are
    known for their fine details, which include
    intricate patterns, delicate facial features, and
    elaborate clothing.
    The first known Indian miniature paintings are the Ajanta
    murals, which date back to the 2nd century BC. They depict
    the life of the Buddha.

    The modern style of miniature paintings originated in India


    around the 6th century AD.
    History of Rajasthan, Punjab, and the Deccan plateau were some of
    Miniature the regions where miniature paintings were produced in the
    medieval period.
    Paintings Miniature art was at its peak during the reign of Akbar and
    his successors.

    The 18th and 19th centuries saw the decline of the


    miniature painting style as European art began to influence
    Indian artists.
