DESCRIPTION
Glide slope is a system of vertical guidance in ILS.
The glide slope transmits in 328 to 336 MHz (UHF).
Glide slope signal is amplitude modulated with 90 Hz (above G/S) and 150 Hz (under
G/S).

3
G/S ANTENNA LOCATION
The glideslope antennas are located on the lower stiffener on the forward nose bulkhead.

4
REMOVAL
(1) Make sure that the BAT switch is set to the OFF position and tag the switch
with a caution tag indicating "DO NOT APPLY POWER”.
(2) Perform the BATTERY POWER DISCONNECT procedure (Ref. 24-30-01, 201)
and tag the connector with a caution tag "DO NOT RECONNECT".
(3) Remove the nose radome (Figure1).
(4) Disconnect the coaxial connector from the glideslope antenna (Figure 2).
(5) Remove the mounting screws which attach the glideslope antenna housing to
the bulkhead and remove the glideslope antenna from the airplane (Figure 3).

5
BATTERY POWER DISCONNECT
(1) Turn Battery Switch to OFF
(2) Remove the battery access panel located on the upper right hand center section
between the fuselage and nacelle to gain access to the wing mounted battery.
(3) Remove the battery cover on FL-215 and After, except FL-318.
(4) Remove the lockwire and disconnect the battery connector from the battery. Cover or
insulate the battery terminals.

7
INSTALLATION
(1) Make sure that all electrical power is OFF.
(2) Perform the antenna bonding procedures (Ref. 20-10-01, 201).
(3) Attach the glideslope antenna housing to the bulkhead using the mounting screws and
insert the glideslope antenna ends through the glideslope antenna holders located on
either side of the glideslope antenna housing (Figure 4).
(4) Connect the coaxial cable to the glideslope antenna housing (Figure 5).
(5) Install the nose radome (Figure 6).
(6) Perform the BATTERY POWER CONNECT procedure (Ref. 24-30-01, 201) and
remove the caution tags.
8
ANTENNA BONDING
(1) Determine the contact area of the antenna to be mounted.
Warning: Use solvent only in an adequately ventilated area.
(2) Using using a clean, lint free cloth (09-002, Table 201) dampened with solvent cleaner
(06-011, Table 201) clean all grease, oil and other nonconductive films from the
contact surfaces of the antenna, spacer and the mounting surface of the fuselage.
(3) Clean nonsoluble films from the contacting surfaces by sanding and polishing with fine
garnet paper or silicon carbide, taking care not to remove excessive metal. Small
areas on an aluminum surface may be cleaned with a stainless steel wire brush. The
area should then brushed clean and wiped, using a clean, lint free cloth (09-002, Table
201) dampened with solvent cleaner (06-011, Table 201).
Warning: Use rubber gloves when handling chemical conversion coating. 9
ANTENNA BONDING
(4) Perform the CHEMICAL CONVERSION COATING APPLICATION procedure (Ref. 20- 08-
00, 201) within two hours of completing the cleaning procedure.
(5) Allow the area to thoroughly dry for a maximum of one hour prior to installation of the
mating parts. If the drying time exceeds one hour, retouch the area with coating and neutralize
with water.
Caution: Do not alter the length of any coaxial cable. A change in length could affect system
operation.
(6) Attach a coaxial cable to the antenna. Antenna excess coaxial cable should be stored inside
the airplane.
Apply sealant (04-001, Table 201) around the coaxial cable where it passes through the skin.
10
ANTENNA BONDING
(7) Install the antenna with the attaching screws. Torque the screws in accordance with
Chapter 20-01-00, 201.
(8) Fillet seal around the entire periphery of the antenna with sealant (04-001, Table 201).
(9) Retouch the painted area around the antenna as required.

11
BATTERY POWER CONNECT
(1) Connect the battery connector to the battery and lock with lockwire (09-044, Table 201).
(2) Install the battery cover on FL-215 and After, except FL-318.
(3) Turn the Battery Switch to ON. Make sure the battery power system operates properly.
(4) Install the access panel in the center wing section.
