have of your own body
and how you see
yourself when you
look in a mirror. Self-
esteem is how you
value and respect
yourself as a person.
Self-esteem affects
how you take care of
yourself, emotionally,
physically and
spiritually.
What is the connection between

and body image?

 Overall, having a negative body image can damage


your self-esteem and can lead to depression or
other mental health conditions. Notably, a positive
attitude is key. Negative thinking can negatively
impact both physical and mental health.
What is the physical self body image and
self-esteem?

Body image is how you


think and feel about your
body. Another way to
describe it is the evaluation
of your physical
appearance, especially
regarding how you think
others may perceive you.
Conversely, self-esteem is
the way you feel about
yourself as a person.
Spiritually
 Spirituality can provide a sense of purpose and
meaning. It can connect people to a force greater
than themselves, as well as to their fellow human
beings. If you are seeking better mental health
for yourself or a loved one, spirituality may
provide a strong foundation on which to build it.
 Recent studies have demonstrated that a high
level of self-esteem can be associated with a
positive spiritual experience and an overall sense
of well-being (Gábová, et.al 2021).
What factors develop and promote
positive self-esteem and self-image?
There are a number of ways in which
you can improve your self-esteem.

• Identify and Challenge Your Negative Beliefs.


• Identify the Positive About Yourself.
• Build Positive Relationships—and Avoid Negative
Ones.
• Give Yourself a Break.
• Become More Assertive and Learn to Say No.
• Improve Your Physical Health.
How can we promote positive self-esteem
and self-image
1. Don't engage in body shaming
yourself or others!
2. Try not to compare your body to
other bodies.
3. Focus on who you are – sometimes
we put too much focus on how we
look.
4. Have fun with your look and focus
on expressing who you are.
5. Identify your strengths and
weaknesses. Celebrate your
strengths and identify ways to
improve your weaknesses.
 According to Emily Roberts
(2016), there are some
questions you can ask
yourself to help boost your
self-esteem and help you feel
confident now.
 You can answer these questions
quickly or take more time to ponder.
The more time you spend thinking
about yourself in this manner, the
better you will feel. Sometimes we
don’t stop to think about those things
we already have that define us.

answer on a sheet of paper

 1.What are some things you are passionate about? What kinds
of things excite, motivate, or interest you? What can you do to
feed these passions daily or weekly?
 2. What kinds of things do you feel you need to overcome so
that you can get closer to self-acceptance and confidence?
 3. Do you have relationship problems with your family, friends,
or coworkers? What are your options to overcome them?
 4. What kinds of activities excite you? Which ones make you
feel happy?
 5. Who are the people in your life who are supportive and will
help you nurture your dreams and goals? How can you spend
more time with them?
