Giving human qualities to things that are not human. Connects
us to that thing being describe. Personification The choice of word can also affect the reader – consider: The man crept slowly down the corridor. Inference – what could the man be doing in that corridor?
The man marched quickly down the corridor.
Inference – what could the man be doing down the corridor
