The Raiders pulled their most recent visit from just up the road. Last week they had San Jose State safety Akeem King in for a visit according to USA Today's Tom Pelissero.
King started all last season at safety for the Spartans. The 6-1, 215-pounder was originally recruited to SJSU as a receiver and by his junior year, he was making the transition to defensive back.
After one season as a backup, he took over the starting job as a senior. In 12 starts, he racked up 71 tackles and 2 passes defended. That season earned him an invitation to play in the Medal of Honor Bowl.
He opened some eyes at his Pro Day with a 4.39 40-yard-dash, which earned him some NFL visits including the Falcons and Seahawks along with the Raiders.
He still projects as at best a 7th round pick as a strong safety and special teams player.
