I'll join the 1 star crowd. Last night, 12/2/24, I filled an online cart with various items, then tried unsuccessfully for an hour to complete the purchase. I chose PayPal which wouldn't work, then my Visa card which didn't work either. I use both for years, never a problem anywhere...except Rural (King?). A chat box appeared so I tried that only to get a message I would receive an email and call which I never got. So this morning, 12/3/24, I tried their customer service number. What a joke! I was on hold 38 minutes before giving up.
I had the same experience others had which is why their reviews are so bad. I called or closest store, 90 miles away, no manager but after 12 minutes got to speak to an assistant manager who said she "cringes with calls about online ordering" from so many problems.
I tried corporate in Illinois which was lots of dead ends, never getting to speak to anyone. Out of exasperation I emailed RK asking to close my account and remove me from mailing list.
RK has a good variety of merchandise and good prices. If they fixed their online site and ordering problems as well as answering their customer service phone calls we would consider returning.
All RK corporate needs to do is check out Walmart, Lowes, Home Depot, Tractor Supply or any retailer to see how well their customer service is. RK is the absolute WORST!

DO NIOT BUY GUNS AT RK!

After the way I was treated by Pikevile Ky Rural King the last few days I will never be back. Had 1 actually lie about me and say I said things I never said. Not only did you lose the $1100 we had already spent online on the 8th but you have lost all further business as well. I spent 1200 every 6 months alone just in dog food every year and 1000s more on electric fence stuff. On average I say we spent 4-5000 yearly which some1 else will get now.

Applied for new credit card was approved same day. Tried to purchase a 5 foot tiller online was unable. Called store thinking they could or would help! Ha! Sad day when you have money that you want to spend and the associates not able to make it happen. I was trying to keep Alabama strong and buy a machine made here at home. What has happened to America :( no pride)

Made an online order for pick up at 9am and at 6pm my boyfriend came to pick it up. Not ready and they took forever to even find the order number. A special needs boy was at the counter and was treated poorly by two employees in front of my boyfriend. They ended up not have things on my order and had to cancel and redo the order twice. It wasn't busy at all and they acted like he was a bother to them. Will not be placing any orders again.

Please go elsewhere for purchases. I ordered a swing for my grandson and was never notified if it shipped. Called Customer Service and they said my order was flagged as fraud. Confirmed all info with customer service and she was to notify the fraud dept to clear the order. Then was notified 2 days later that order was cancelled. No reason. No explanation. Credit card is fine, been at this address 11 yrs etc. The purchase was only $46...but they DID want to charge $17 to ship...ridiculous. So they have the nerve to ruin a Christmas gift with absolutely no explanation. I will be making it known to everyone I know who does business with this 2 star company (that's pretty bad actually) to do their business elsewhere. A joke of a company. Will also be contacting my local news to inform them to air my story.

I had a disappointing experience at a local store recently that I feel compelled to share. While shopping at Royal King in Bluefield, WV, a situation arose that left me feeling disrespected and unheard. Despite trying to address the issue calmly, I was met with rudeness and confrontational behavior from the staff. It was surprising to learn that the individuals involved were the HR and operation managers of the store. As a CEO myself, I believe in upholding high standards of customer service and professionalism.
It is disheartening to encounter such behavior in a retail setting, especially from those in leadership roles. I firmly believe that respect and courtesy should be fundamental values in any business. I have taken steps to address this matter through legal channels, as I believe such conduct should not be tolerated. I urge those who value ethical and respectful treatment to consider shopping elsewhere.
It is essential for companies to uphold values of respect and professionalism at all levels. As leaders, we must set an example for our employees and ensure that customer service remains a top priority. I hope that this incident can serve as a reminder of the importance of treating others with dignity and respect in all interactions.

Very bad experience
September 19, 2023

Ordered a sprayer + weed control. They cancelled the order because sprayer not available and immediately shipped weed control for $38 shipping cost. When I told them to cancel the order because shipping is nonsense they said they cannot cancel the order as it is shipped. So it cost me $38 for shipping one bottle of weed control! They said they will see if they can do something with the cost and reimburse me but never came back. On top when i wrote them a review they replied it do not meet their website guidelines so they removed that. Stay aware and do not buy from them.

The managers of the store are on top of things I sent an email about some pants I was trying to return for a different size but they never had my size received a call within 10 minutes. They offered to exchange my jeans even for a more expensive pair. I declined because I like the pants that I bought so they are ordering them and going to have them at the store for me to pick up. I have to say their customer service is top notch I wish more stores led by their example will definitely be doing business with them for a long time to come, awesome job Shannon and Matt!

Every time I go to check on my guns I order the gun barn is always closed. It's has been 3 weeks and I have had no call or email. The guns a paid for and being held hostage. Went to another gun dealer and was cleared the same day.

After two weeks of waiting for shipping information on some firewood I ordered I called to check the status and was told it was placed on hold for verification, I was told if I hadn't called I would have never been informed! They then stated it would take an additional 1-3 day for verification and another 1-3 weeks for processing! I asked if there was a way to expedite the processing and they refused, said they were unable to do that. 4 days after calling to verify my information I received an email that my order had been cancelled with no explanation as to why. This is a bad company that treats their customers poorly, obviously has very poor management and I will never purchase from Rural King again. Additional I will make it a point to post this on every review forum and share my experience with everyone I know. Not that is matters because I have no doubt this company will be bankrupt in no time!

A hawk recently killed my granddaughters pet duck.Drove the 30 mile trip to get them another Rural king had some but would not sell them they have a stupid policy to wait one day they are stupid enough to think you are safer from one dieing Even if I told them I have raised poultry all my life that can happen anytime All the girls would say store policy the keep them in back of store

Best customer service
November 28, 2023

I realize I had the best customer service on Sunday than I ever had before. I think his name is Larick. I hope I spelled his name right. He has an extremely unique name, and personality. All I have to say about him is he's phenomenal and helping me discover things around the store. He even went out of his way to help my husband get something outside in the cold weather. And then he got me checked out by the lovely cashiers he also mentioned surveys, but I had to write a review about this young man.

Horrible website

Finally got website to show me what I was looking for, so I added it cart, then went to check out, signed into my account as I have done before, only to be told I had requested a password reset? And would receive a verification code. 15 minutes later I finally get the code, go through all the hoops to get signed in only to be told the verification code was incorrect, I checked 3 times, it's the code you sent me? I mean wtf? Tried everything I could think of everytime I get the same thing the case they send is invalid, so why send an invalid code? Again WTF!

I was trying to purchase birdseed online...first of all, it won't show which items are out of stock until AFTER you try to check out and have been through PAYPAL ( 4 times!), and it keeps asking for a shipping address, even though I have entered one multiple times. Get your act together Rural King!

Purchased a Champion generator from Cape Girardeau store in December of 2023. Tried to start in Jan and would not start. Tried to return to the store and they refused to take it back. They said it was their policy. The problem with that is their policy is not displayed where the product is in the store. The assistant mgr also told me it is stated on the back of the receipt. That is absurd since you cannot see that until AFTER you purchase the item. Very deceptive practice. I'll never enter that store again and would advise all to beware.

Uninformed Employees

My two complaints are as follows: I've ordered a couple things from Rural King and have found that the people who take the calls for product information are quite clueless when it comes to the products they sale. It seems as if you have a question about a product you better do your own research because they can't really do much more than tell you if it is in stock or not...even that isn't a for sure thing with these people. I just got an email saying that they no longer ship anything at all to California. I thought it must have been a mistake so I called and was told that in fact the 40,000,000 customers (potential or established) in California can order from other companies but that they in fact no longer ship anything to the state of California! Not only are they a company of uninformed, under performing employees but it seems that the management is somewhere between "really dumb" and "totally stupid"! That's ok, we have lots of other online choices.

Best customer service is in the world.

I stop at Rural King any time I am within 50 miles of one of their stores. We were recently at Rural King in another state that we were visiting. We purchased a couple of the summer sausages. They are amazing. When we returned home one of them had some mold on the inside. The vacuum packaging had not sealed correctly. I contacted Rural King through their website and asked what we could do about it. Less than an hour later Rural King called me and pleasantly asked for a little more information. When they found out the entire story, they apologized for the inconvenience and asked for my address since there is not a store anywhere close to me. They then rush shipped me a new one and another surprise was in the package for the inconvenience it caused me. If all retail stores were like Rural King the world of shopping would be a much better place. Thank you Rural King for being amazing at what you do.

I purchased "Heavy Duty" tomato cages from Rural King. I received the cages in a fairly timely manner. These cages were anything but heavy duty, they were so flimsy that two of them were broken when I received them. Unfortunately I decided to keep them because my plants were already in the ground. I filed a complaint with RK customer service, at this point it has been two weeks and I have yet to receive a response. This was my first and last experience with RK.

The staff at the gun department have horrible customer service. It takes forever to even get acknowledged, then when you finally get any type of help they are sarcastic, mean, and $#*!y. Will never shop for anything at any rural king store ever again. Stay away like it's the plague or corona.

I went to our new Rural King today in Georgetown Kentucky, and I won't be back. I counted eighteen customers and two employees with no mask, and I didn't see any encouragement to keep social distance. This store didn't even open until the pandemic began, so there is zero excuse for your lazy response.
People on ventilators and in coffins don't buy farm supply, guys. Wise up.
