When a fire alarm sounds, staff and students should immediately evacuate the building, assemble at the designated meeting point, and remain there until told it is safe to re-enter. If smoke is discovered, activate the alarm and call emergency services. If a fire is found, evacuate the room by removing people in danger, closing doors, activating alarms, trying to extinguish small fires, and evacuating adjacent areas and floors as needed according to the four stage process outlined. It is important that those who require assistance are identified and all occupants go to the pre-determined safe assembly area.
