Say what you will about Louis Walsh, he can’t half be prophetic sometimes. Case in point, what he saw in John and Edward Grimes’ X Factor audition was different from what most people saw. While most people saw it and found themselves with the inexplicable desire to punch a kitten, he saw the insanely high entertainment value to be found in two reasonably cute teenage boys with ridiculous hair clowning around onstage who either didn’t know they couldn’t sing worth a damn or didn’t care in the slightest. But Walsh is nothing if not a Nostradamus for guilty pleasure because a considerable amount of those who saw it were also incredibly entertained by it. Whether they’d admit to it was dependent on what side of twelve they were on but it’s been nothing if not lucrative since 2009, as the twins have been touring, making records and appearing in their own TV shows (yes, more than one) ever since then. If you want to know whether you’ll want to see them in 2014 and beyond, go back and watch that first audition on Youtube, cos that’s still a pretty good approximation of their live show to this day. It’s two reasonably cute teenage boys with ridiculous hair clowning around onstage, they still wear suits, they can (sort of) sing now, and it’s still stupidly entertaining (in the literal and figurative sense) to this day, whether you’ll admit it or not!
The second show on Jedward’s current U.K. tour, and the second consecutive performance at Manchester’s Factory venue, saw a larger audience than the previous night, comprising not just fans doing the whole tour but also many regulars to the venue, interested to see what John and Edward could do. And they did not disappoint. A largely different setlist to the previous evening, the Dublin twins kept everyone entertained, with a wide range of styles and songs. Covers included Shut Up And Dance With Me, and a gorgeous rendition of ‘Sugar’ by Maroon 5, with a falsetto that would convince the most diehard Jedward have got what it takes when it comes to vocal chops. A selection of their own self written songs, plus tracks from their three albums, as well as a fabulous acoustic session, ensured that everyone enjoyed themselves immensely.
Having been a fan since their first Eurovision entry, where I was transfixed by these twins, I have attended numerous of their shows, and have loved every one of them.
Each concert is different: 2 and a half hours of high energy, John and Edward are able to focus on every member of the audience. With three albums under their belts, plus 5 self written and independently released singles, and countless other songs written and recorded but as yet unreleased, the Dublin duo know showmanship.
Their voices have that sympatico that only siblings possess; beautiful twin harmonies, while their latest songs are thoughtfully and intelligently crafted.
on't believe what others might say - go see them in concert for yourself!
John and Edward are always exciting in concert. They bring a warmth and energy to the stage that is unparalleled by any other artist.
Now independently managed, and with over six years experience, they can hold a crowd in the palm of their hand,
with tracks from their three albums, plus their newer self written material.
The show always offers plenty of interest and variety.
Much loved by fans, their acoustic sessions add yet more depth to their performance.
All this comes with amusing chat and a brilliant connection to their audience.
It all adds up to a highly entertaining, 'not to be missed', night out.
John and Edward rock everything they do with class and style. Their first full length concert in nearly two years they’re not lost any of their sparkle or charm, not to mention energy, keeping the audience entranced for well over two and a half hours. With songs from their three existing albums, as well as a selection of their self-written tracks, and an acoustic session, the fans and curious observers all left having had an incredible evening.
5 star fun and energy a great fun evening!
It was a celebration of Thier birthday and the crowd was full of cheer
It was amazing as at the end of the show john and Edward jumped into the crowd and met all the crowd with pics and hugs
Thanks for a great night
