Mechani Genius is Old Man Mechani's grandson. Just like his grandfather, he is an inventor and mechanic. In Densetsu no Starfy 3, he provides the player the Pogo Stick ability so they can save Mekani-jiisan when he gets too high with his balloons.
In Densetsu no Starfy 3
Starfy, Starly, and Moe meet Mechani Genius while traveling through the Coral Coast. He introduces himself as the famous blimp researcher, Old Man Mechani's grandson. He's worried about his grandfather, who, after the successes of the Blimp and its upgrade, moved on to studying balloons. He asks the trio to save his grandfather, letting them borrow the Pogo Stick to get high enough to pop the balloon. After saving his grandfather, Mechani Genius gives them the Pogo Stick (after being pressured by Moe and Starly), and Old Man Mechani gives them the Intelli-Specs Stuff item.
Name Origin
From mechanic (メカニック), and the combination of Old Man Mechani (メカニじいさん, Mekanijiisan) and Genius (ジーニアス, jiiniasu).
Trivia
- Mechani Genius uses the pronoun Boku in Japanese.
- While not proven, he may have been influenced by Tose's The Invention King series on their official website.
- If Old Man Mechani's iQue name, 机蟹爷爷, is to be trusted, Mechani Genius and his grandfather are actually crabs (most likely hermit crabs)
