About Stonehouse
Nestled in the secluded countryside of Holden, Massachusetts, stands an old stone house within close proximity to downtown Worcester. Stonehouse is over 125 years old, built in the late 1800’s as a summer home to a prominent Worcester attorney. It was originally built as a stucco home, in what was an area of parceled farms. These farms were delineated by the same fieldstone walls found along many New England roads, some of which can still be seen today as you approach our grounds.
Over time, the house was expanded and was eventually converted into a stone estate using the same fieldstone as those iconic farm walls. As the area became less agrarian, the forest expanded too, now surrounding the home. The house fell into disrepair and in 1994, came into our guardianship. We have been working ever since to return it to its former glory and are now pleased to welcome you to celebrate your special moments in the hospitality of these grounds.
Stonehouse, with its arched windows, and open porches, would serve as a picturesque backdrop for any function. The country estate sits on ten acres above the Holden Reservoirs, surrounded by a forest filled with old beech and birch trees. A walled English garden is featured on the property and is an excellent space for pictures, cocktails, and games. With its sprawling grounds adorned with gardens and majestic trees, situated at the end of a private drive, and secluded in the forest, Stonehouse offers a serene event space surrounded by nature.
