Alvor in The Algarve is a fairly exposed beach break that has quite consistent surf. Winter is the best time of year for surfing here. Ideal winds are from the north. Usually gets local windswells, but groundswells do happen and the best wave direction is from the southwest. Waves at the beach break both left and right. Best around high tide. Even when there are waves, it's not likley to be crowded. Take care of the strong rips here.
