Nashville, Chattanooga, & St. Louis Number 576

"The Nashville Steam Preservation society is restoring steam locomotive No. 576 to full operation to once again ride the rails of Middle Tennessee. No. 576 was built in 1942 for the Nashville, Chattanooga, & St. Louis Railway and operated from Nashville to Atlanta, Georgia for nearly a decade. After retirement, the engine was donated to the City of Nashville and placed on display in Centennial Park in 1953. After nearly 66 years of being exposed to the elements, Nashville Steam relocated No. 576 to the Tennessee Central Railway Museum in March 2019 for a complete mechanical rebuild for special events and excursion service. The restoration is estimated to cost approximately $2.5 million and take 3 to 4 years to complete. The restoration of NC&StL No. 576 is made possible through collaborative partnerships with Nashville Metro Parks and our friends at TCRM."
