About Andy Griffith
Andy Griffith was an American actor, singer and writer who first gained recognition portraying Larry Rhodes in the 1957 film Face in the Crowd. He went on to gain more prominence playing the characters Sheriff Andy Taylor in the CBS sitcom The Andy Griffith Show from 1960 to 1968 and Ben Matlock in the TV series Matlock from 1986 to 1995. As a singer, he released several albums, including the 1996 Grammy Award-winning album I Love to Tell the Story: 25 Timeless Hymns.
Personal Life
He was married three times and had two children.
Achievements
In addition to having a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, he was inducted into several Halls of Fame, including the Television Hall of Fame. In 2005, President George W. Bush presented him with the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
