About Brad Delp
Brad Delp, in full Bradley Edward Delp, was an outstanding American hard rock and rock musician in the 20th century. He played the guitar, keyboard and harmonica and was a fantastic vocalist. He enjoyed many successes as the lead vocalist for the popular American rock band “Boston”.
Background & Early Life
He was of French and Canadian descent but was born in Peabody, Massachusetts, in the USA. During his 20s, he developed his vocal abilities and music style by regularly singing at various clubs in the Boston area of Massachusetts.
Career Highlights
Between 1969 and 1974, he worked with fellow musicians Barry Goudreau and Tom Scholz. They initially formed the “Mother’s Milk” band, which was eventually renamed the “Boston” band. Under Epic Records, “Boston” released its eponymous debut album in August 1976. Delp went on to release three more albums with the band: “Don’t Look Back”, “Third Stage” and “Corporate America”.
Between 1991 and 2004, he was part of “RTZ”, releasing three albums with the band during this period. He also co-wrote songs with popular artists and bands such as Lisa Guyer and Orion the Hunter.
Death
On March 9, 2007, he was found dead at his home in Atkinson, New Hampshire, from what was subsequently determined as “suicide by carbon monoxide poisoning”.
