About Eddie Murray
The 1999 Baltimore Orioles Hall of Fame inductee Edward Clarence Murray is a former first baseman and designated hitter of the American Major League Baseball. Murray was also inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2003.
Early life
The baseball player was born in a full house. Being the 8th child among 12 children, he grew up quite strong-headed and very competitive. He gained his education at Locke High School and played Little League baseball while growing up.
Career
Murray made his professional debut with the Baltimore Orioles in 1977. He stayed with the team till 1988 before signing on to Los Angeles Dodgers from 1989 to 1991. The New York Mets came next for the professional baseball player as he played on the team from 1992 to 1999. After a year, he signed on with the Cleveland Indians from 1994 to 1996. He later moved to the Baltimore Orioles and Anaheim Angels in 1996 and 1997, respectively. Murray finally joined the Los Angeles Dodgers and played until his retirement in 1997. The baseball player has a career record of more than 3,200 hits and over 500 home runs.
Personal Life
Murray married Janice Murray but unfortunately divorced in 2011. He had 2 children as of 2021.
Achievements
He was an 8-time All-Star in the years 1978, 1981–1986 and 1991. He was also the World Series champion in 1983. From 1982 to 1984, he was a 3-time Gold Glove Award and a 3-time Silver Slugger Award recipient in 1983, 1984 and 1990.
