About Horace Mann
Horace Mann spent most of his political career campaigning for quality public education. In 1852, he was appointed the president of a private art school called Antioch College. As an educator, he was of the opinion that quality public education would make children in the United States disciplined.
Mann was also a seasoned politician and was mainly associated with the Whig Party. He was voted to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1848.

Education
He studied at Brown University before enrolling at Litchfield Law School.
Trivia
He, together with Catherine Beecher and Henry Barnard, were the main campaigners for the Common School program.
He also served on the Massachusetts State Board of Education as its secretary.
