About Jeff Kinney
Jeffrey Patrick Kinney has become a household name for being the author of the fiction book series, “Diary of a Wimpy Kid”. After conceiving the idea of the series’ main character, Greg Heffley in 1998, it took him six years to release the story online as daily entries in 2004 via FunBrain.
The author and illustrator rose to fame after the first book went to print in 2007. His books were adapted into four feature films released between 2010 and 2017.
Personal Life
He was brought up in Maryland, where he studied at the Potomac Landing Elementary School, Bishop McNamara High School and the University of Maryland. He has been married to Julie Kinney, the mother of his two sons, since 2003.
Achievements
He was named in the list of the “World’s Most Influential People” compiled by TIME Magazine in 2009. His book series has received more than five “Favourite Books” awards from the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Award.
Trivia
He is the creator of Poptropica, a child-friendly online role-playing game.
