About Jim Varney
Jim Varney was an American actor and comedian best known for his portrayal of the fictional character Ernest P. Worrell who appeared in a series of TV commercials and films. He was also known for starring in the 1993 filmThe Beverly Hillbillies, in which he played the character Jed Clampett as well as for voicing the character Slinky Dogg from the Toy Story series of animated films.
Family Life
He was the fourth child of his parents, Nancy Louise and James Albert Varney, Sr. He was married and divorced twice. From 1977 to 1983, he and Jacqueline Drew were married. His second marriage was to Jane Varney. The marriage lasted from 1988 to 1991.
Trivia
He was his parents' only son.
He died of lung cancer, which was brought on by his addiction to cigarettes.
Shortly before his death, he supported George W. Bush in his bid to become president of the United States.
