Career
Early on, Marvin Gaye got in with big name musicians. He sang backup vocals for Bo Diddly and Chuck Berry. Around this time, he also worked as a session musician, playing the drums. He did not do this for too long though. Gaye moved on to a solo career, recording popular singles like How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You) and I Heard It Through the Grapevine. Gaye has won a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
