The Town Landing Market is a Falmouth landmark, known for its neighborhood feel and excellent food. The market is an institution in the town and has been a part of the landscape since the 1800s. With its quaint features and ever-confusing advertisement for “fresh-native ice-cubes,” Town Landing has cemented its place in the community.
2. Mackworth Island
Mackworth is a beautiful, 100-acre island connected to Falmouth. The island features breathtaking scenery, walking and biking trails, and amazing historical features. Mackworth is Falmouth’s go-to place to enjoy the beauty of Maine and take in the incredible coastline. And of course, don’t forget to build a fairy house while you’re there!
3. Family Ice
The Family Ice Center is a wintertime staple and is home to one of Maine’s best indoor ice rinks. Family ice is used for various ice sports throughout the year and also features a beautiful outdoor skating rink, with a warming hut and chairs to help those who may not be as skilled on the ice. Being the home hockey rink for both the Falmouth Yachtsmen and Greely Rangers, Family Ice plays host to some incredible hockey games and is an excellent source of recreation during the winter months.

No matter where you go, people typically mistake Falmouth, Maine for Falmouth, Massachusetts, a town in Cape Cod. This misunderstanding comes almost without exception and has been the source of great confusion at times. 5. Harmon’s Lunch, Falmouth House of Pizza, and Foreside Tavern.
Falmouth features some incredible food, which spans all ends of the spectrum; no matter what you’re looking for, you’re guaranteed to find it in Falmouth. Harmon’s Lunch, Falmouth House of Pizza, and Foreside Tavern are just a few of the fine selections, however, there are many more. Harmon’s Lunch is a small, old-school eatery serving up hamburgers, hot dogs, and fries, and has been a Falmouth institution for decades. The restaurant is known throughout the state as one of the best places to go for a delicious lunch and never fails to leave you happy. If you’re in the mood for pizza or other selections, look no further than Falmouth House of Pizza or The Foreside Tavern. Both restaurants serve incredible food, with Falmouth House focusing on the traditional pizzeria style food and the Foreside Tavern offering a more traditional experience. The incredible food is just another one of Falmouth’s incredible characteristics and you’re certain never to leave unsatisfied.
6. Super Scoops and European Bakery
Once you are done with your incredible meal, you can head over to either Super Scoops or The European Bakery for desert. Located on Route 1, Super Scoops is a local favorite and is frequented by almost every Falmouth resident throughout the summer. Super Scoops offers countless options and always delivers their product with a smile! On the other end of Route 1, one can find the delectable European Bakery, which offers incredible baked goods as well as breakfast and lunch. Both options are town staples and will always satisfy the sweet tooth.
7. The Greely/Falmouth Rivalry
Although Falmouth seems to have a rivalry with all opposing towns, Greely High School is by far the greatest adversary. Greely is located in Cumberland, Maine and is positioned directly next to Falmouth, making for an intense rivalry. No matter what sport or competition, the tension between the schools is always present and growing. The rivalry has been the source of some amazing sporting events and will likely continue into the future.
8. School is NEVER cancelled
Whether it’s one inch, one foot, or 10 feet of snow, school is never cancelled. No matter how certain you are that the next day will be a snow day, don’t hold off on homework, because there is absolutely no chance of school being cancelled!
9. Golf
With three golf courses in the town, Falmouth clearly loves golf. Although not every resident is an avid golfer, golf is recognized as an aspect of the town’s culture and the courses make up Falmouth’s landscape and add to its beauty.
10. Everything is far away…but you still know everybody
Although Falmouth is relatively spread out, members of the town tend to know one another. Even more amazing is the incredible kindness and care everyone has for their neighbors. Under any and all circumstances, the amazing people of Falmouth are always willing to lend a hand and will see each other through the best and worst of times.
