I don't know a lot of things, but I do know that I love all things college-related.
Selfless plug: I'm currently a social media editor for a college blog, The Young Hopeful. It's awesome. We give out tons of resources and life tips. We love Target and organization more than the average person should. You should check us out.
In my current position, I practically live on my computer. But then again, don't we all? I help college gals all day long learn something new. This week, I've decided to stick with what I know and share with you some college resources that are in my arsenal, regardless of if you're a college newbie or an-all knowing senior.
I even made a graphic for Pinterest. That's when you know I'm getting serious! Even though I organized this post by year, I believe all of these resources are beneficial no matter where you are on your college journey!
Freshman Year
Getting assigned your first college paper over, like, three pages is one of the scariest things ever. (Oh, just you wait!) But Written Kitten will help soften the blow. This website doesn't save your work, but it does serve as purrrrfect motivation. My only advice when using this site is to make sure to copy all that you're writing periodically into a word or Google doc and save it! Click the link to see what it's all about. Thank me later.
Sophomore Year
Papers are starting to get longer and it's time to step your game up! Before you submit your work, use Paper Grader. Copy and paste your paper, and the site will check your word choice, spelling and look for plagiarism! (CC: Melania Trump)
Sophomore year, you might start looking for internships. Actually, you should be looking for internships. InternMatch is pretty much a treasure trove! It's filled with so many different companies and job listings. You can also get resume and cover letter help.
Junior Year
Junior year is not always a fun time. I'm pretty sure it's the year my brain contemplated exploding. I wish I knew about the app, Elevate, at the time! It helps improve your focus and memory, without feeling like another thing on your To-Do list. If you play mobile games already, add this to your list.
Senior Year
There's so much more to do and see now that you're a senior! (And legal!) Meet Up is an awesome app that allows you to see different events and groups in your area. A lot of the events are free and even though you're meeting up with other people, I have yet to be put in a sketchy situation. As scary as it is to think about, this is a great resource for all of us after we go out into the real world and move some place new!
Since the real world is rapidly approaching, The Muse is a great website to befriend. It's essentially Intern Match 2.0. You'll find boatloads of career resources and learn about cool jobs and companies around the world. The Muse profile thousands of companies — big and small — and showcase the company culture, office(s) and current job openings. If you make an account, you'll be able to save job searches and have even more access to articles and advice. 10/10 highly recommend!
Misc.
Headspace - an easy to follow meditation app
Self Control - a computer application that blocks you from websites when you're trying to be productive
The Grizzly Labs - scan papers, receipts, notes and more; keep em' stored in your phone!
Venmo - pay all of your friends back, securely, via this mobile app
Trello - organize every aspect of your life with To-Do lists, online and in the app
Nike + Training - download this and you'll never have an excuse not to work out. Dorm-room friendly!
Shopkick - College students are poor. With this app, some of your favorite stores will give you points when you visit them, then those points can become a gift card and you get $$$. Woohoo!
