Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone Starrer Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani Becomes 3rd Highest-Grossing Re-Release In India

Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Kalki Koechlin and Aditya Roy Kapur's Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani re-released in India on January 3 and it has set the box office on fire once again.

On the first day of its re-release, the romantic drama directed by Ayan Mukerji minted Rs 1.20 crore. And now, it has become the third-highest-grossing re-release in India.

As demand for YJHD skyrocketed, additional screenings were added over the weekend, pushing its opening weekend collections to Rs 6 crore. By the end of its first week, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani amassed Rs 13 crore, making the film the third-highest-grossing re-release in India since 2000.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani's stellar run culminated with Rs 21 crore net (Rs 25 crore gross) at the Indian box office. Earlier, videos from theatres across the country went viral wherein the audience danced to songs like Balam Pichkari, Badtameez Dil and Dilliwali Girlfriend. Netizens posted videos on X, formerly known as Twitter. Karan Johar, the producer of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani reacted to it. He said theatres turned into rock concerts.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani released in 2013. The film follows the lives of four friends from teenage to adulthood. The Ayan Mukerji directorial spans a timeline of 8 years exploring the journey of their friendship and self-discovery.

Apart from Ranbir, Deepika, Kalki and Aditya, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani starred Kunaal Roy Kapur, Tanvi Azmi, Dolly Ahluwalia, Evelyn Sharma, Poorna Jagannathan and late legendary actor Farooq Sheikh.
