A dark-coloured BMW car rammed into a crowded market in Germany's Magdeburg on Friday killing at least one and injuring between 60 to 80 people. The driver of the car was arrested immediately after the accident and it was revealed that the man is a citizen of Saudi Arabia. After the incident, claims surfaced on social media that the it was a terrorist attack. However, as of now, law enforocement is yet to confirm the intention of the suspect.
Among those who claimed that it could be a terrorist attack was billionaire Elon Musk, who called it a "deliberate mass murder" in a post on X. Other people also claimed that the attack was intentional,
What We Know About The Driver's Intention?
According to local media Bild, the driver was caught by the police in Saxony-Anhalt "along with explosives." It is not clear what explosive was found, and what was the quantity of it. The police identified the man as a citizen of Saudi Arabia and said that he had rented the car shortly before the attack.

According to the local police, the suspect is 50-year-old and arrived in Germany from Saudi Arabia in 2006. He has been working as a doctor, according to reports. CNN has been reporting the suspect could be a right-winger, but there is no confirmation of the same yet.
City spokesperson Michael Reif also said that they suspected it was an attack. However, he did not confirm the details of the injuries, saying only that "numerous" were injured.
“The pictures are terrible,” he said. “My information is that a car drove into the Christmas market visitors, but I can’t yet say from what direction and how far.”
